Been using the lucky 38 as my home for a long time, I'm currently doing the BoS quest Still in the dark and I go the vegas entrance with all the secutrons so I can drops off my findings and it now says I need a key to get in and I can't lockpick it. I cant start a conversation with the robots either, I just get "move along"

Any ideas to get it working?

Try going to McCarran and use the monorail that goes from there to the Strip.

Do you stll have 2000 caps in your inventory

yes I had the caps, nothing has changed, had just finished getting something from a vault and had a bunch of extra crap i needed to drop off before I went to the next one and all off a sudden it said (key required) when i click on the gate.

Yes I had the same thing happen to me. Caught the monorail to the strip and went through the other side of the previously locked door and all was fine.

I loaded a previous save and I can get in, I wonder if something messes up when your going to the vaults for that part of the quest.

You can use a stealth boy and a 1 shot kill gun then go to one of the bots and kill on then search it and you will find a key to vegas. You will never have that problem but you have to be careful and go into the city then lucky 38 and to your room then sleep or get out of the city or just use distance weapon but you must use stealth boy or you will be seen and never let into vegas without being shot at. If you're on PC you can console it open. Open the console, click the door, type unlock. Save and restart the game afterwards so you can keep getting achievements.
