I'm new to the TES series and it's becoming apparent to me after quitting 5 characters before hitting level 30, most before 15. This game loses it's flare or that feeling of immersion, unless you know what you want character to be, because there's simply so much to do. For me personally after I have spread out my perks, or just have to many ways of going about combat it's just hard to choose so I think Skyrim would be most enjoyable if you do define your character before you start, or quicky as you get into it. I'm an rpg noob, at least I haven't played any that really give you as many options as Skyrim does. So please post any Class/ Roleplay you have used or think would be a good idea. I will edit this post and try to organize all of them to help give less creative people some direction though their adventure in Skyrim.
Also if i'm being stupid and there is already some comprehensive list of play styles somewhere I don't know of feel free to direct me to it.
there isnt such a list, not even solid guide AFAIK.
but rule of thumb, especially playing on master, you should pick and stick to 3 core skills, core skills being the ones that you will absolutely put a perk on when you level and absolutely will have them at the required skill lvl for the next perk. (and do so untill at least 75 skill with those)
some setups I found very effective:
pure mage:
destruction-alteration(or illusion)-restoration core with crafting -> enchanting
battlemage:
Heavy armor-destruction-one handed core with crafting -> enchanting (if you prefer destruction for main damage) or smithing (if you prefer destruction mainly for supportive and ranged damage only)
Healer:
restoration-illusion-archery core with crafting -> enchanting
Ranger:
sneak-archery-one handed core with crafting -> alchemy
Soldier:
block-onehanded-light armor core with crafting -> smithing
Paladin:
2 handed-heavy armor-restoration with crafting -> smithing
