Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 12:27 pm

Hello,

I am currently trying to decide what games to buy(for pc on steam).I am interested on good SP games,so MP is not a really my style.

1.LA Noire
2.Saints Row The Thrid
3.Bioshock 2(looked kinda boring lol)
4.RAGE
5.Any good SP game welcome(but should be sorta a few years old like 3-4)

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Btw,I have B:AC,DX HR.I thought about Skyrim, too big and boring for me.

Knights of the Old Republic is only $10 on Steam, I hear it's pretty good. ;)

Don't forget, in a few weeks Steam is going to have a HUGE sale, you can't hold out until then?

True, best to wait until then. It's going to be even bigger than the Autumn sale, and there's a very big chance that any game you'd be interested in picking up on Steam will get a discount around the end of December.

Morrowind.

If he thinks Skyrim is "too big and boring" then he has no hope in hell for Morrowind.

Theres an old game that costs about $10 called Oddworld: Stragers Wrath. You WILL NOT play another game like it. The graphics are decent and it's a decent challenge.

I would not get RAGE....I've heard that it really is poorly programmed.

Other games I've played that I think are worthy are:

Two Worlds 2
Mass Effect series
Just Cause 2
Mafia 2

and to be honest the Kayne and Lynch series suprised me. <----good story so far

Dragon Age Origins
Metro 2033
Any STALKER game
Original Deus Ex
Bioshock 1
GTA IV

All of these have some open world or RPG elements, but they aren't as big and overwhelming as Skyrim.

Serious Sam 3 is quite fun, though more linear than the other games from what I had played of it so far. But it does have destructable environments and awesome enemies, and runs perfect on my 6 year old system on the default settings.

Buy them all. Because Steam saves your CC details and you can buy a game in a couple of clicks, you're not really spending money. Or so I keep telling myself. Until I see my bank statement. :shocking:

Fuck it. Who needs money?

[censored] it. Who needs money?

GASP! A censor-avoider! BURN HIM! Thanks for Metro 2033 btw. Yes, you gave it to me months ago, but I'll never be able to completely thank you for the $5 you saved me.

OT probably Borderlands if you have some friends. Some RPG elements and a world that hardly qualifies as open world, but it's pretty fun.

And now you know what I was talking about with Steam haters...

OT: I would say Arkham City. I've been wanting to pick that game up since I loved Arkham Asylum.

Well, see now we all know you don't know what you are talking about since Steam doesn't accept direct-transfers and needs line of credit (such as one provided from a credit card) to do service -- your bank account never comes into play. Of course your credit card number could be stolen, but your bank account most certainly cannot be hacked unless you are such an idiot that you use the same password for your bank account as you do your Steam account.

Ever hear of a debit card, I guess not. Point is anything’s possible. Steam, king of Drm, Distribution, hacked.

Any way you could get ripped off correct????, lets say said hacker taps into your account , then they can do anythiong they want with it, you put all your games (eggs in one basket) you can lose it all.

With current credit card laws, so long as you inform your credit card company in a timely manner, you can't get ripped off.

Of course the best option is to just not let Steam store your credit card info, then it's not there for anyone to steal. This is the best course for ALL websites

lets say said hacker taps into your account , then they can do anythiong they want with it

How are they tapping into my account? Steam doesn't have my password, just a salted hash of it  And they can't do anything they want with it, as it'll get locked and with the various security settings Steam offers I can easily get it back.

If you mean Credit card, see above. You really have to be a royal moron to get burned with credit card fraud in America (Europeans aren't so lucky last I read due to the Chip-and-Pin/Verified by Visa liability denial fiasco).

you put all your games (eggs in one basket) you can lose it all.

This one I will not side on, since it's why I don't use Steam myself (but not for the reason you are thinking)

I'm all for disliking Steam, but what you are saying is patently FUD.

What im saying is Valve/Steam has all your information, they get hacked, you get hacked.

Except that's not true. Valve only has the information you give them. You don't have to let them Store your credit card information, then that cannot get stolen. You never give them your bank account information, so no one can hack into your bank account due to Steam getting compromised. Steam doesn't have your password, just a salted hash of it (proven by the last hack), so even if your password is relatively simple, it still shouldn't be compromised due to Steam getting hacked. So you are quite wrong

Also, even gramatically, Steam getting hacked most certainly does not equate to you being hacked. The absolute worst that can happen is credit card fraud, and even that cannot happen if you don't let Steam store your credit card (even if you do, properly reporting to your credit card company to watch out for suspicious charges/issue you a new card would stop it from happening yet again).

So like I said: What you are saying is wrong, and don't spread FUD about Steam (this coming from a person who greatly dislikes Steam and refuses to use it -- though not because of FUD about security)

I actually want to make this post right here about Steam.

The absolute worst thing I hate about Valve is they have an option ticked from the beginning regarding saving your CC info on the first place. That option is so small, you barely could see it and you leave it like that once you check out.WTF are they thinking?I can't even explain how angry I was when I heard about the hacking and stored CC stolen.

There was a point when I was even going to go to support and write all the most horrible things imaginable. But I cooled down later on.

It could be worse, at least they give you an option. I've yet to find a way to get Amazon to not save my credit card info. Such a pain to have to manually delete it after every purchase :swear:
