Help finding the perfect house?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 5:32 am

Hello all!

I need some help. My character, Anvir the Wood Elf, has been diving into Dwemer Ruins and loves them. Well, loves them so much he grabs a lot of stuff from them. I've decided that now that he's kind of free to do whatever he wants without the world being threatened, he needs some time off and become a dwemer scholar.

The thing is, I can't find a house with a suitable 'office' type space for him and Barbas. I have Whiterun, Solitude, and Markarth's, but I can't seem to like them. Will I have better luck with Windhelm or Riften's houses?

I really like the Riften house! It's near a lake and you can sit on the porch, fish or drink an Ale and enjoy the sunset! The only "buggy" thing I've encountered are the 2 mannequins that seem to move around at times LOL

Also, I do like the Windhelm house, because it's very spacious! It has high ceilings and a really large armory. Sure, it can be buggy because of the bloody mess left by the Blood on the Ice quest. However, just make sure you get it cleaned before you buy it. I think it's the biggest house in the game, in terms of open space!

Well the most suitable out of all those houses for what you have in mind is the markarth house. Windhelm has alot of space but its more of a display house then anything. Riften is also very nice, it's small and cozy, but doesn't have that office feel you are going for.

Yeah, if you get the Windhelm house, make sure you buy the "clean up the murderer's mess" upgrade before getting the others. That one disappears once you've upgraded the bed and living areas, so you have a nice furnished house with blood all over the place that you can't remove.

To be honest, I find the Windhelm house too big and open. Nice add-ons, but it's hardly cosy. Solitude is nicer, but I think Riften is probably the most homey.
