Help! Labyrinthian Dragon Priest badass

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:58 am

Hi
I'm doing the mages guild questline and I'm up to the quest where u have to retrieve a magic staff from a dragon priest in Labyrinthian. Couldn't beat him, so I went away, levelled up to level 20, and returned. I still can't beat him! (sob) lol I can defeat those weakling mages powering his force shield but then he comes out and acts like a total [censored]! One hit from that zappy staff of doom and half my heath's gone! How do I kick his ass???

Level 20 still too low. Get better weapons and take some Shock resistance potions.

k, what level should I be, you reckon? I have boots with resist fire and another pair with resist frost, but I suppose a pair with both would be better. As for the other gear, I can do the enchanting, cheers :D

Yeah, I got tired of the mage NPCs real quick in this game so I race to Enchanting 100.

OMG that's gonna take me ages. Maybe go wander around the world, doing other quests and killing dragons until I get powerful enough.

He's reported as LVL 50, but I suspect he scales or semi-scales to your level because I'm pretty sure I took him out in my 30s on one character. ...wasn't easy though.

I beat him at like level 10ish, if not lower. I summoned creatures and shot at it from a distance (bow and poison)

Seriously???????? I doubt you could've got the quest below level 10 though? Stealth, bow and poison is probably what my main would use.

I swear. I just decided to go to the college to get better magic, I started the quest shortly after the white run stuff. I would summon and shoot at him while he was distracted. he will turn your summons on you tho - so I just resummoned when that happened

conjugation and archery were the only skills I invested in at the time

I kind of cheat but,
-if your a Mage get impact, the spam destruction then when you run out of magik hurry up and open the menu, take off your novice or whatever hood and put it back on, it will give you enough magic to dual-cast another destruction spell
-if an archer you can shoot him from the door then hurry close the door and hide, he will stop looking for you before he reaches the door then when he goes back to his stage open it back up and shoot again
- assassin is easy sneak up behind him and stab him in the back
- the hard one is worrier idk how to beat him then

I can beat him usually as long as I have impact, I think I beat him at lvl. 10 most recently

I usally just hit him until my magicka runs out then close and hide behind the door. He only rarely goes through the door.

I'm pretty much a mage, and I've been using the door idea. But the last time I fought him I could see that white diamond moving closer and closer... it was really creepy. So I opened the door and he was right there, it freaked me out a bit lol

He's using the Staff of Magnus on you and it's extremely powerful. The Drainspell, etc., weapons that you could get on your way to him are very helpful. If you can become invisible and get in close to him to melee and bang away at him with one of those weapons that drains his stamina, that's one way...it worked for me once. He'll destroy you from a distance with that staff. A lot of hiding and gradually draining his health another time worked for me too. Morokei is a real tough guy and it feels great when you finally win. Do not use Conjuration to summon a helper because he uses a Command Daedra spell and they will turn on you and you'll be kicking your own butt. Good luck. :tes:

I got him at Level 17 in my current game but I know it was at higher levels in earlier games. You can do it...just figure out the right weapons and tactics...and make lots of new saves. There were all kinds of things you could find on your way in to him. It'll be fun. :tes:

Killed him slowly with a single digit level character, my sneak was really high though, just sneak attack with a bow, hide, sneak attack, hide, repeat. It took me a minute but it is very possible to kill him from a low level.

I beat him at level 12 by shooting a couple fireballs at him. I just hid up where the mages were powering Morokei's force field and shot him like 4 times double casting.

Turn the difficulty down? I had great fun battling him with Aldamar, my high elven mage. It felt like a real wizard duel. Strategic usage of wards is the key IMO.

I got him around level 10-15 but I admit, I think he was bugged. I was casting destruction spells at him and he just stood there until his health was nearly gone
