Help making a DW Character Build

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 1:18 pm

I'm not entirely sure which Race I want.. just read the Imperial desc. and it says they're good at Combat and Magic? So they can be paladins then? I was thinking of making a Dual-Wielding Imperial as well.. but not sure how well that would go..

Then of course theres the Sword+Shield Warrior I could also make. But right now the DW Thief and the Paladin sound more intruiging. But how should I go about playing them?

I like Dual-Wielding because you can do crazy combos without even using Stamina. Plus the melee system just makes it perfect if you know how to use it correctly. That's why I made this topic.. I like DW'ing.. but also like Spellswords. Which would be better in the longrun?

Making a DW character can be a pain, especially on harder difficulties. You constantly have to back-peddle to stay alive, or you have to be sneaky and get a sneak multiplyer. I personally like having a bit of magic thrown in if i'm not making a sneaky character, and battlemages can be a lot of fun. Here's a great video that very closely resembles the battlemage build i've been using:

And as far as paladins go, just tweak the battlemage build for a bit more Restoration. I've gone through some big battles in Skyrim doing mostly priestly stuff on my battlemage, and it's a lot of fun.

For a Dual Wielding Thief I'd recommend a Khajiit. Natural Thief. I've been playing one for a while.

But if you wanted to do a DW Warrior then I'd opt for a Redguard. Adrenaline Rush helps with that, and if you wanted to opt for Heavy Armour I'd activate the Steed Stone.

Heavy Armor has the "Conditioning" perk, that makes it not weigh anything or slow you down when worn. The weight/speed is the only downside to Heavy Armor, and that perk removes that penalty. Same as Steed Stone basically, but allows you to use a different Stone.

When I read, "A DW character," I thought you wanted to play as a 900 year old Time-Lord from the planet Gallifrey.

How disappointing.

I think everybody needs to calm down with the "if you are a mage choose high elf or breton,if you are a thief choose khajiit! etc"
Why cant someone create something better and different? Like a nord mage or a orcish thief.

I haven't seen that race matters much past the first few levels.

You know exactly what people mean by the term. How about not overreacting to the nth degree, m'kay? If this kind of thing gets your panties that twisted, I can't imagine what I real life setback would do.

Sorry, when I say "Paladin" i'm trying to envision "Spellsword" so sorry about the lil misconception... don't freak out now. I've never played WoW.. ever so get off your high horse and caps lock. Thanks.

Anyway... now one thing I'm really trying to decide is Heavy or Light Armor as a "Spellsword"? I'm guessing prolly Heavy for more DEF?

If you plan on getting hit a lot, go for heavy armor. If you don't plan on getting hit much, go for cloth gear(better enchantments). Of course if you decide to go with enchanting, cloth is only good for asthetics. Even light armor is fine if you want to throw in blacksmithing with enchanting, but i'd just go for heavy armor and put perks in a better place.

My dual-wielding characters tend to be sneaky, however an Beserker Orc that dual-wields will be pretty awesome, what with beserker rage. Just wear Heavy Armour because it's going to take a beating. Perhaps have Alteration as well in case you come up against some Mages, frost magic is a pain for warrior-esque builds.

I like your spell-sword *cough*Paladin*cough* idea. If you're roleplaying it would be an inherantly good character, doing good and righting wrongs, not looting bodies. It is a good role-play character.

I have two DW characters. One is a dual axe wielding Orc in heavy armour and he is indeed bad ass. My second is an Assassin/Archer/dual dagger using Redguard and I got pounded in the early stages of the game, because I use light armour.

My Orc is definitely easier...
