Help needed - deleted objects still appear in game!

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 11:30 pm

Hi!

Anyone can help me with the following issue, please?

I'm editing an area (Half Moon Mill) and in the process I deleted the sawmill to replace it with another building. The issue is that the waterwheel still appears in its original place (next to the new one I've placed), if it was not deleted at all. (when I was deleting the objects I was asked if I wanted to proceed because they are linked to a quest)

Same issue with some clutter-gore found nearby.

To better understand the issue here are some screenshots from the CK and from in game:

ACT II

The above problem has been solved by setting PlayerREF on the vanilla objects BUT

The issue is now happening with statics I've put in. Game is acting like if it's mixing the latest state of the mod file with an older one.

Example:

I've placed a house but later on I decided to remove it and replace it with another one. Launching the game I find that the old static I have removed is still in its place and the new one showing up 'on top' of it.
I also have issues where I simply moved an object a bit but the game creates a duplicate of it If I have copied it....

I'm always testing the mod with a clean save. I have even started a new game after deleting all saves.... doesnt help.

Heres a shot showing the issue:

Word to the wise....it is not advisable to delete vanilla objects from the game as this can cause numerous issues---corrupted save games, etc. The proper way to do this is to drag the items you wish to remove to someplace else---i.e. , underground/out of sight. I would advise that you "un-delete" the items (when you open up the CK , right click on your mod and click on the details button...then delete all the items you have deleted *this un-deletes them*---they will have a "D" beside their entries) They should then re-appear in the CK where you can drag them underground.

Thanks! I'll try to reposition it and see if this still occurs.

EDIT:

Well it seems that this wheel really loves its place. I've undeleted the whole mill, moved the whole thing together with all its objects and markers to a different location, but the wheel just stayst in place.

Just the wheel remains? But it removed all the gore items and such? Do you maybe have a second copy of the wheel object that is not showing in the CK (try hitting the F5 key and refreshing your window to make sure there is no additional copy of the wheel). If that is not the case, then I am not sure of what is happening.

Edit: Make sure you are checking in game using a clean save (a save where your mod has not been activated before). If you us an old save it may still have a reference to it in the save.

Set PlayerREF in (any) cell as the enable parent of placed stuff you want gone, then tick the "Set enable state to opposite of parent" flag. That's how *Edit safely undeletes as the player is never disabled and is already persistent. That'll work for any save as well.

Thank you both for your help!

MDC519: I double-checked there were no additional copies of the objects, the chunks of meat from the little shack and the sawmill-wheel still appears in their original place.. using a clean save did not help either.

I'm using the Cosntruction Kit since morrowind but this starting to drive me crazy..... The funny thing is I get random wierdness like some statics I placed not showing up one time a run the game, but the next time they do. The whole thing is like paranormal activity...

JustinOther: Could you please clarify what is PlayerREF or how to set it. I know where to find "Set enable state to opposite of parent" but I can't get my head around what is this PlayerREF supposed to be...

Many thanks in advance!

PlayerREF "Bendu Olo" [ACHR:00000014] can be found in (any) cell from within the dropdown lists in an "Enable Parent" tab. http://i.imgur.com/Pw8vV.png

If you don't even want to see the REFR in the Render Window, push it under the floor or set its Z coordinates to -30000 as *Edit does.

No prob :) Elminster's trick works beautifully in Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and now Skyrim too. I can't wait for TES5Edit! *drools*

The old form might have been marked "Deleted", but is apparently still in your file. Open it, File > Data > Deatails, then select the form(s) you want gone and use the delete key to mark them "Ignored". Save, then close CK and the forms should actually be removed.

Edit: Was the old form something you placed or is it Skyrim.ESM? If Skyrim.ESM, just Search+Replace and swap the static.
