*HELP* NTSCPAL WTF

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 3:49 am

I am doing a contest on the internet for the internet. I purchased 6 copies of Skyrim from a GameSpot in New Jersey. I noticed the XBOX 360 version says NTSC Only, which means people who use a "legitimate" Xbox 360 in Europe or anywhere outside the North American region would not be able to play the game if they win my contest and I ship it to them.

The PC and the PS3 game box versions do not specify this NTSC "big business exploiting little people model"

Does the PC/PS3 versions have DVD Region Security thingy?

Does the company offer a solution to the XBOX 360 Regional Security thingy? Maybe some software?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTSC

Can any developer or someone from marketing or customer service please asnwer my questions. I am not complaining, this is not my business, you can do what you want but this is my contest and I am a customer. This also seems like a small oversight in the planning of distrbution of your game, as people from NA cannot gift their friends to Europe a copy of the game for the XBOX 360 version. Sending someone $60 or a gift certificate, is not the same as receiving a package from a loved friend, opening it up, and wallaha their favorite or their future new favorite new video game.

Thank you,
Oleg Kirioukhine

You could buy the game at amazon.co.uk and have them ship the game to the lucky winners.

PS3 is region free when it comes to games. As for Xbox, it is on you to make sure you are sending the right game to the right region. As MeltBanana said you should wait on the 360 versions and buy from the appropriate regional site based on who wins.

Okay thanks for the information guys, I assume PC is the same Region Free too right? Just to make sure...can never be certain about anything these days.

The clerk selling the game was not "sure" so it brought me some doubt...

Yup, the PC version doesn't have region lock either.

It's just microsoft being greedy again.
