So.. if you go with Rolaf to Riverwood can you not talk to Alvor and his wife about the situation? Because you talked to Gerdur?

I remember doing it on my 1st character.. but now everytime I follow Rolaf that never happens. Does it happen if you split up from him and come back to Riverwood later?

Following him will start you off on the line of joining the Stormcloaks actually. (So instead you'd meet his family instead of Alvor) So be sure who you follow at the beginning. But you'll still be able to use the smith and shop with Alvor later on.

That's what I thought it was... I don't like the Empire never have even since Oblivion.

svcks cause my 1st character I followed Hadvar or w/e his name was (Empire dude), and proceeded to follow HIM into the keep. Until I found out I COULD follow Rolaf. So that's what I've done like everytime, lol.

Honestly my first time playing I never knew of another person to follow so I followed Hadvar, and joined the Empire (although I like the Empire) but there's a big difference from Skyrim Empire, and Oblivion Empire - Skyrim Empire is more of some kind of morph with Fallout Ceasars Legion, and I don't really like that that much. And everytime I see Legate, it makes me think "EVIL! BAD! SHOOT! Ceasar dogs"... Something like that lol.

But no problem.
