WARNING -- SPOILERS --
OMG ! So I know no one is going to believe this, and I can't record video of this happening like most of you seem to do now a days, BUT DUDES, DEEEUUUDS (in another tone), DUDE (in yet another tone) -
I have figured a work around and without even opening that door or walking through it I have gotten to the other side, did the whole thing, killed Auldien, and got transferred back... I'm done, and all without even opening that door !
Heres how I did it. I left the temple back the way I came (after searching and searching, reloading, saving reloading, etc.. hoping to solve the issue, but to no luck at all), I continued going further back until I got all the way back to where that one dragon friend of mine dropped me off. I then looked back at Skuldafn (particularly the area that the temple is at) and I noticed that there was a giant beam of some sort of light up there to where I have never been. Upon closer inspection I seen that there was Deathlords up there, and I then realized that MUST be where I eventually need to get. And eventually after opening the door I can't open, it must lead there (common Skyrim game design at this point to me). So I need to get there and MAYBE I can move forward.
So from the place I was standing (the very beginning area where the dragon lets you off) I noticed a sloping area kinda snowy that looks as if I could jump climb it. And if I followed it and could jump climb the rest of the rocks and stuff I did see a path (though hard and grim looking of a possibility) that would lead to the back and above of that area with the light beaming out of it. IF and only IF I stayed as high as possible along the jump climb procedures.
Anyway, I tried it. And with skillful jump climbing I was able to stick to the crests of the mountain range leading to there on the backside (BEHIND the building of Skuldafn). Eventually I worked my way to exactly where I thought I could, and it was the rear end of the building but on top. I slid down and got there !!!!!!!
Longer story slightly short = It was exactly as I thought. It was where I needed to be, AND after killing everyone up there I was also able to enter a door labeled "Skuldafn Temple" and I covered that last bit of area that was past the door I couldn't get to (was able to find a "Shout" that was in there too !). I even went all the way up to the door I couldn't open, BUT on the other side from which I earlier couldn't get to due to not being able to turn the rings to open the door. So all in all, EVERY bit of area got covered, I missed nothing, ended up finishing the entire level/mission BUT never opened that door !! LOL
So yea, you can jump climb up the backside and get directly to the top of Skuldafn. Took me about 1 and a half minutes once I got it down and knew exactly how to execute it. Its sweet ! Next time though the game, I may decide to just do that immediately - cause its definitely a quicker way to finish the mission/level if you don't mind missing some treasures. You'll skip all those pesky stupid pillar puzzles and badies along the way.
