Help, Skuldafn Temple Door Rings Not Turning !

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 2:09 pm

Hi, I'm in a real stumper this time.

I've been dropped off by the dragon that I captured. I'm here at Skuldafn. I then slowly worked my way all the way through killing every Deathlord and Drougr along the way. I am currently now at the Skuldafn Temple Door that has the classic 3 rings to turn to the patter at the bottom of the corresponding "Claw". In this case its the "Diamond Claw" of which I have cause I got it from killing the Deathdude right at the door.

Ok, so I usually have no problems with these doors. BUT this one's rings will not turn ! It don't do anything when I click on them. Doesn't even make that clicking sound. It does however register the ring that my crosshairs are on (Outer ring, middle ring, etc..) but will not do anything when I click on them.

I can click on the dragon claw key hole area and it reacts then and gives me the scene where it tries to open but due to not having the rings set right it wont open. So everything seems to be working except the rings... Whats up ? And I missing a secret switch or lever to activate them ?

I have reloaded a older save, and every time I get back here, its the same story. Rings don't move.

Anyone else experience this ? I'm on the XBox 360. Whats the solution here ?

Thanks -

Well that sux. But hey, thanks for taking the time to tell me this bad news. I appreciate that and your straightforwardness.

My god, what is there to do in this place while waiting for that update ? Wish I brought some skooma with me and that one chick from the Raggon Flaggon. Damn !!

When exactly is this update suppose to be available ? Did they announce a approx release date for it ?

Thanx again for your help

Very soon - the update is already available on Steam for PC users, and is being approved for Xbox and PS3 right now. But I don't know when exactly.

I've had this happen to me before, in Bleak Falls Barrow, I think. I fixed it by exiting the cell (backtracking to the load screen door), saving, quitting, loading, going back to the door.

WARNING -- SPOILERS --

OMG ! So I know no one is going to believe this, and I can't record video of this happening like most of you seem to do now a days, BUT DUDES, DEEEUUUDS (in another tone), DUDE (in yet another tone) -

I have figured a work around and without even opening that door or walking through it I have gotten to the other side, did the whole thing, killed Auldien, and got transferred back... I'm done, and all without even opening that door !

Heres how I did it. I left the temple back the way I came (after searching and searching, reloading, saving reloading, etc.. hoping to solve the issue, but to no luck at all), I continued going further back until I got all the way back to where that one dragon friend of mine dropped me off. I then looked back at Skuldafn (particularly the area that the temple is at) and I noticed that there was a giant beam of some sort of light up there to where I have never been. Upon closer inspection I seen that there was Deathlords up there, and I then realized that MUST be where I eventually need to get. And eventually after opening the door I can't open, it must lead there (common Skyrim game design at this point to me). So I need to get there and MAYBE I can move forward.

So from the place I was standing (the very beginning area where the dragon lets you off) I noticed a sloping area kinda snowy that looks as if I could jump climb it. And if I followed it and could jump climb the rest of the rocks and stuff I did see a path (though hard and grim looking of a possibility) that would lead to the back and above of that area with the light beaming out of it. IF and only IF I stayed as high as possible along the jump climb procedures.

Anyway, I tried it. And with skillful jump climbing I was able to stick to the crests of the mountain range leading to there on the backside (BEHIND the building of Skuldafn). Eventually I worked my way to exactly where I thought I could, and it was the rear end of the building but on top. I slid down and got there !!!!!!!

Longer story slightly short = It was exactly as I thought. It was where I needed to be, AND after killing everyone up there I was also able to enter a door labeled "Skuldafn Temple" and I covered that last bit of area that was past the door I couldn't get to (was able to find a "Shout" that was in there too !). I even went all the way up to the door I couldn't open, BUT on the other side from which I earlier couldn't get to due to not being able to turn the rings to open the door. So all in all, EVERY bit of area got covered, I missed nothing, ended up finishing the entire level/mission BUT never opened that door !! LOL

So yea, you can jump climb up the backside and get directly to the top of Skuldafn. Took me about 1 and a half minutes once I got it down and knew exactly how to execute it. Its sweet ! Next time though the game, I may decide to just do that immediately - cause its definitely a quicker way to finish the mission/level if you don't mind missing some treasures. You'll skip all those pesky stupid pillar puzzles and badies along the way.

Golden.

That's GREAT! Glad you figured out a way to out-glitch the glitch.... Have fun in your further adventures!

Great. Now that this has been posted Bethesda will "fix" this by putting an invisible blocking object in patch 1.6 so we won't be able to jump-climb up there anymore. :o
