Help with Dead Money

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:13 pm

Many of you have accessed Fallout DLC before, but some of you might find this helpful.

  • Download Dead Money from Xbox LIVE for 800 Microsoft Points
  • Make sure you've applied the latest available game update for Fallout: New Vegas. Without the second update, Dead Money will not work properly.
  • Start up Fallout: New Vegas
  • Load any existing game save other than saves relating to the end game (you won't be able to travel to the Sierra Madre Casino from these saves).
  • Wait a minute or so and you should receive a quest pop up on you Pip-Boy stating:
    Sierra Madre Grand Opening!
Your Pip-Boy has picked up a radio broadcast inviting you to the grand opening of the Sierra Madre Casino!
  • After clicking okay, you'll receive a message stating:
    Dead Money Loaded
Dead Money has been loaded. Your level cap has been raised by 5.
  • From there, make your way to the Abandoned BoS Bunker showing on your Pip-Boy map.

We hope you enjoy Dead Money!

After entering the bunker and being gassed, my game freezes up

We've discovered in the sequence where your player enters the bunker and gets gassed, having specific quest items equipped (Loyal's Detonator, Michaelangelo's Camera, Motor Runner's Helmet, Boone's Beret) can cause a freeze to occur. We're looking into this issue, but as a workaround, make sure when you start this sequence in Dead Money, do not have these quest items equipped.

As we have more information to share, we'll let you know.

Please make sure you have the latest title update installed for Fallout: New Vegas when attempting to play Dead Money. To check to see that you have the update, go to the Title Screen>Settings>Display. In the bottom left corner, you should see 1.2.0.315

I received a "complimentary voucher" to redeem for 1,000 caps, but I've never received the caps.

You're only supposed to get that voucher if you gamble enough (win 7500 chips) in the Sierra Madre Casino. If you reload a previous save from inside the casino and gamble enough to win that amount, then the voucher will function correctly.

I have all companions recruited and they are standing at the fountain, and I cannot advance. What should I do?

Thus far we've only seen the issue occur in instances where the patch is not properly installed or has been removed (a system cache clear removes the patch). If the patch has ever been removed while playing Dead Money, this issue is likely to occur.

Another common way this could happen is if you have the patch installed on one Xbox, but then transfer your hard drive to another Xbox that doesn't have the update. If the new Xbox isn't connected online, the game probably hasn't been patched.

If this is the case, you might want to try the following steps.
1) Delete Dead Money from your Xbox 360 HDD
2) Clear the Xbox 360 system cache
3) Redownload Dead Money
4) Start New Vegas again while connected to LIVE -- ensuring that you receive the latest title update when starting the game.
5) Roll back to a save before you've received a Pip Boy alert to begin Dead Money
