Help with enchanting some armor, couple of questions

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:51 pm

I looked around some but decided to ask instead, so here's a couple of questions

Currently I'm using legendary ancient db armor, using a bow 99% of the time, and I'm going to switch to forsworn instead with some nice archer enchantments.
But all items are not going with all enchantments, whats the rules there?

Currently I have broken down some fortify archery item, but it seems weak. Is the strength of the enchantment dependable on the soul gem only or do i need to break down a really good item to get the skill? in that case, what would be the strongest for archery?

Is there a difference in strength on the enchantments on different armors?

What perks in the enchantment three should i pick if I only want to enchant fortify archery/sneak on armors, and not on weapons?

If anyone have a link to a good guide, or the time to give me some answers that would be great. thanks in advance guys.

Only certain enchantments can go on specific items. You won't get Sneek on your chest plate, but you sill get it on rings ,and footwear. I am still trying to figure out the limitations.

One suggestion if you'd care to try it on your next character. Don't unravel anything except the items with 50-60% on them like the shields with those massive resitances. Or the Masters Robes 25 cost reduction and 150 regen. Things like that. You won't have many enchantments untill you've gotten a number of them dissassembled. Seems [sometime depends on the patch] that the 1st item you dissassemble for that enchantment sets the boundries for what you can do. And yes Skill makes a big difference on your results. Haven't seen any difference in useing Grand Soul gems or Black Soul Gems. But there is a difference between Greater and Grand.

Basically, try to Disenchant the lower items because you learn the same Enchant from a Bows Do 20% More Damage as you would from a Bows Do 60% More Damage. The strength of your enchantments is based on your Skill, Perks, and Soul Gem. For example, there is only one Fortify Archery enchant and it's %-age is based on you...not the item from which you learned it.

I would only use Grand or Black Soul Gems for Enchants and use lower grade ones (Petty, Lesser, etc) for recharging.

Insightful Enchanter will affect Archery and Sneak.

The elemental ones are also good for Resist Enchants if you're so inclined.

If you want a list of what goes on what go here:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Enchantments

If you're trying to avoid spoilers just ask if a certain enchant will go on a certain item and someone will answer it.

Edit:
I just checked and 40% is the most additional Bow Damage I can enchant with my skill at 100 and all the Enchanting perks except Soul Squeezer and Soul Siphon which have no effect on the power of the Enchant.

Enchantments work on 4 pieces of apparel. You can find it out yourself at the enchantment table. Select the enchantment you want, and see which items are not grayed out. For archery it's head (hat or helmet or circlet or hood) neck (necklace) finger (ring) hands (gloves or gauntlets). For sneak it's neck, finger, hands, feet.

Currently I have broken down some fortify archery item, but it seems weak. Is the strength of the enchantment dependable on the soul gem only or do i need to break down a really good item to get the skill? in that case, what would be the strongest for archery?

Strength of enchantment depends on your enchanting skill level, the perks you take, and the size of soul gem. To learn fortify archery enchantment, you need to disenchant any item you find with that enchantment. It does not matter what you disenchant.

Is there a difference in strength on the enchantments on different armors?

No. They are all the same.

What perks in the enchantment three should i pick if I only want to enchant fortify archery/sneak on armors, and not on weapons?

Enchanter on the bottom of the tree (5/5) gives you 100% boost on the enchantment strength.

Insightful Enchanter above that gives you another 25% boost for fortify archery and fortify sneak.

With Extra Effect at the top of the tree, you can enchant your ring, necklace and gauntlets with both fortify sneak and fortify archery at the same time.

Six actually. Unless you're considering Ring and Necklace "accessories".

Four. Only four items are acceptable per enchantment (without mods) - except that goes up to five if you use the Falmer Helm and Circlet (or Penitus Oculatus Helm & Circlet) bugs.

OK, I see what he's saying now: each enchantment only works on 4 types of gear.

Edit: ...with a few exceptions that will go on fewer types.

You can hit +45% if you enchant gear with Fortify Alchemy, then equip those and make Fortify Enchanting potions, then drink those potions and make a new set of Fortify Alchemy gear, then equip the new set and make stronger Fortify Enchanting potions. Repeat untill the numbers stop getting higher. Then drink the strongest Fortify Enchanting potion and make Fortify Archery gear.
