Help me with my new character

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:32 pm

Thinking about starting a new character. I've always always ended up with a stealth/assassin type in ever TES game, so I want to try something different this time. I'm leaning towards a brutish warrior who uses heavy armor (which I've never used before!)

I love all of the crafting things in this game. I think this guy is going to be a smith who uses only weapons and armor he creates, and uses smithing as a means of income early on. I also want to focus on enchanting since I'll only be using my own weapons I'll need to enchant them as well.

As much as I love stealth, stealing, backstabbing, and alchemy, I think I'll shy away from most of those things except for just dabbling in alchemy (and perhaps pickpocketing at lower levels, but this is looking less likely.)

Because gold is so easy to come by in this game, I've always bought training at each level (starting around 5 anyway), so that way gold is a little harder to come by.

I'm not really sure which questlines to try or groups to join. Would the companions be a good choice? Any other ideas for this character?

I'm leaning towards an orc (berserk sounds cool). I started a guy based on Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones, (made him a redguard) but then he doesn't fit much of what I posted above....would use fur and leather armor before heavy armor, dual wields daggers, I dunno, just not sure it seems like him.

Just looking for comments, ideas, brainstorms.

orc would be best for what you're describing
companions would fit best for him as a quest line
And if you are going to do two handed you should do a lot in alchemy because you are going to need healing and stamina potions
if you do the character I guarantee you'll have fun

Play as an Nord or an Orc.

Except for smarts. They are the bottom link in the chain.

An Orc, Redguard or Nord would be what you're looking for lore wise. but honestly race choice doesn't matter much in this game and you can choose what ever you like.

True but some races do give bonuses that give you a headstart in certain areas

If he wants to choose a race, taking into account the headstart bonuses, then you would be right. an orc is his best choice.

Orcs are a lot of fun, and their special racial ability can get you out of trouble!

At the first bandit camp and I've run into a pretty serious problem. As it turns out, I'm terrible at fighting in this game. I've always played a stealthy character so I just pick them off with a bow or sneak attack. Walking into a camp not in sneak mode doesn't work very well.
