Help with quest: The World-Eater's Eyrie

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:36 am

How do you beat the two dragons before you enter Alduin's portal to Sovngarde? I am having trouble with those two. I already beat the priest. I know you don't need to kill them at all but would like to. Just asking for a few tips to help.

Thanks in advance.

I've been through there twice and it's funny but in both cases I don't think the dragons at the portal ever attacked me until after I had killed the priest and looted him. The last time I think I had to use a shout on one of them before they made their move, and even then he flew up and came back down instead of just trying to blast me from his perch. It's always worked out that I was able to kill one dragon before really having to worry too much about the other.

That said, I killed them pretty much the same way I was accustomed to killing any other dragon at that point. You've got Dragonrend there, I used that and probably Marked For Death when I had the entire shout. Once they land, dodge their attacks, run in and melee them to death, which doesn't take long if they're already vulnerable and losing health from the shouting.

OTOH I think I was already level 50+ both times, with really good armor and weapons, which I know had to make a huge difference. And I haven't tried to kill them with a mage or other less melee-oriented character. (Well, TBH, the last one was more of a sneaky type, but I still had really high level gear by the time I got to Skuldafn).

What I use against dragons is good armor obviously, but use http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Windshear or http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dragonbane. Since those are one handed weapons, I use http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Spellbreaker_%28Skyrim%29 to block the Dragon's Shouts.

I am a Light Armor person, but I like to use http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Ebony_Mail_%28Skyrim%29 for its AR and the Poison effect it gives out.

Also, avoid attacking infront of him to avoid a Dragon killcam.
