Same here. This is really stopping me from enjoying the game since I can't get a decent frame rate with the settings it keeps defaulting to.

Hey Guys, I was having the same problem running the game with steam. To fix this I opened steam and right clicked on fallout new vegas, and clicked create desktop shortcut. When I ran the game from the desktop it seemed to remember my graphics settings. When I ran it from inside steam it would not. Hope this helps!

If you could provide information regarding your PC hardware and OS, it would help tremendously in tracking down the cause of this issue. Specifically, information on your graphics card(s) and motherboard model would be very helpful.

Tried launching the game from a desktop shortcut and it didn't work. Running Windows 7 Professional, AMD Phenom II X4 965, 4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz RAM, an ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4A785TD-V EVO (AM3) motherboard, and an ATI Radeon HD 4650 graphics card.

Tried launching from desktop as well. Even from the folder inside steam, but forces me to load through steam still. The only thing that seems to change in the Graphic Options is the Resolution. Everything else resets. Seems to me the stuttering i am getting while playing the game is coming from the AA, and Vertical Sync, which i am unable to turn off. Looking at my computer usage, my GPU is at 40%, CPU is at 70%, and my ram is at 50%, which makes no sense with all the stuttering im receiving.

Specs

Windows 7 Proffesional 64 bit
Intel 3.0 Duo Core
EVGA Nvidia 250 GTS 1GB
4.0 Dual-Channel 1066mhz or something like that...
EVGA 750i SLI FTW mobo

I have this problem too. My game is stuck in windowed mode at ultra high settings and i cant play because the framereate is ultra slow.

I also seem to be noticing my ram is only being use d up to 3 gb at most out of 8gb

specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 925 quad core @ 2.8 ghz
RAM: 8 gb
GPU: ATI radeon hd 5450 1gb
OS: windows 7 home premium 64-bit

Well it started working now. Didn't do anything to system settings or updated any drivers. Let's see how long it lasts.
