Now, is it actually true that 'Summon Creature' creatures (from the Summon Creature type MGEF, not a script using PlaceAtMe) CAN'T be interacted with? If that's true I've got to modify the mod I've been working on so that I can give commands to my animal companions.

I am working on a D&D style Ranger/Druid Animal Companion mod that will add a whole bunch of other features, but the main idea is different summonable (once per day but permanent until they die or you sleep like in D&D) animal companions that come with you and you can command them to do different things like a follower might be commanded.

I've switched gears to working on a different portion of my mod (really cool stuff, maybe I'll be able to release a v0.5 soon) so haven't really tested if interacting with the summoned actor is possible. So, to get back on track, can you interact with a summoned creature?

You should be cautious with that. Giving them a command they can't fulfill may cause a CTD.

Why not make it so you actually go out and "Charm" an existing animal? Make a formlist that contains the animals you want to be charmable, and let the player go find what he wants...make it work a bit like WoW Hunters

(Though I don't think the stablehands would be willing to look after your Sabrecat for you...)

Dunno. Interesting question though. I'm willing to bet that you can interact with them, as the horse (when I made a version using a typical summon type spell rather than using scripts) did have an interact button, but it didn't say ride. I think this is simply because you can't ride a horse you don't own. So, in short, I don't believe you should have a problem.

You can ride a horse you don't own. That's what the 'Horses Stolen' stat tallies.

I found that out early on my first play through when I came across a dead merchant and his mourning horse.
I thought, excellent, free horse! I rode it back to town and when I got off he decided to return to his mourning station. Horses_Stolen++

Charming mourning or wild horses would be a cool mod.

I created my own summon horse spell for my Levelers Mod. It uses a 'MoveTo' of the original horse. Casting again will send the horse back to its home dimension. And then you can once again summon the horse back to you.

That's a pretty cool idea, and is in line with my mod. In addition to the summonable animal companions, I had already planned on creating a similar ability to the Wood Elf Racial ability to command animals and I hadn't really decided how to handle it... hmm. Time to brainstorm.

Il Ducey -

Does this use a script to summon the horse or does it use the 'Summon Creature' MGEF type? This is important. I would assume you use PlaceActorAtMe given the circumstances, heheheh, but I just need to be sure.
