high texture crash - strange amulet bug

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 2:11 pm

Hi there! This is my first post here in Elder scrolls forum!
I've already played Skyrim (PC) for 324 hours, enjoying it so much, so I wanted to share some of the problems I have met during this great gaming experience.
Unfortunately if I use the high-resolution texture packs released by Bethesda through Steam platform Skyrim crashes too often, especially when there are loading screens (i.e.: fast traveling, entering a city or a house).
I normally (without the high resolution pack) am able to play the game at "ultra quality" settings, almost without problems, even I must admit it sometimes crashes 2 - 3 times in an hour of gameplay. It often happens that trees, animals, outfits loose their textures showing a light purple surface.
My pc specs, anyway:
- intel quadcore Q6600 - 2.40GHz
- 4GB system memory
- video card: Asus Engtx460 - 1GB memory - (NVidia)
- windows 7 home premium with service pack 1

ATTENTION SPOILER BELOW!!!!

during "blood on the ice" quest in windhelm i didn't find the "strange amulet" in the butcher's house, until i completed the quest. When I found it it remained as it was: a "strange amulet" stuck forever in my inventory. Even if i went back to a previous save of the game, and talked about the amulet with the imprisoned mage i wrongly considered "the butcher", the item didn't change to "necromancer's amulet" as it normally should have been.
The only way to make that amulet become as manimarco's amulet is to follow a certain line of steps during the questline of the butcher. To be clear, I should have:
a)found the amulet during the first part of the quest
b)talked about the amulet with calixto and sold it to him
c)talked to the imprisoned mage so that he can recognize the item as the mannimarco necromancer's amulet
d)taken the necromancer's amulet from calixto's dead body at the very end of the questline

otherwise there would be no way to have the right one!

Well, between the first part of the quest in which I sent to jail the mage, and the second part in which the true butcher is found, I had played so many hours, doing so many other quests and dungeons that I preferred to give up with the amulet and keep it as a useless "strange amulet".
I know there is a code that can be used to "correct" this bug, replacing the wrong item in my inventory with the right (and useful) one, but it is a "cheat code". When I tried that code via command consolle there was a weird "collateral effect": from that moment everywhere i fast travelled there was Esbern in the same location.

I hope that even if this is a minor bug the Skyrim developers will fix it in one of the future patches!

has anyone met the following kind of bug:

- when you dismiss a follower, then later you get her again she has lost carrying capacity and she is not able to carry the same weight in her inventory as before you dismissed her?
