Hitting the Books Quest

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:17 pm

In this quest, we're supposed to find three books stolen from the library of the College of Winterhold. We (Silique a' Quercus and I) have cleared out the dungeon and finally killed The Evil Wicked Bad Very No-good Caller. Now we've found two of the missing books, but can't find the third.

The Caller was in a circular room with three lecterns, one in the middle of the room, and two in side rooms to the left and right. The lecterns in the side rooms each displayed one of the missing books, but there was nothing on the lectern in the circular room, although that would seem THE logical place for it to be. We've searched all the nearby rooms as well, without luck. I'd reload and try again, but I'm not sure we could ever win the battle with The Caller again. We must have died a fiery death 15 or 16 times over a couple of real-time days.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Wiki article says she's holding the books, but in any case if the quest is toggled active the map should point out the location(s) - my single pet peeve about the game as a whole.

Wiki also says it's possible to play this one without fighting her by trading the books for Orthorn if he's with you - but having picked up one of the books supposedly toggles an automatic fight.

If you fight in the room there is a good chance the last book was blown away from his pedestral.

It happened to me and i have spent quite some time finding it......

@Sylmarr, that's exactly what happened. Found it -- thanks so much!

@thinzad, you're so right -- I didn't even think of that. I probably didn't have the quest toggled, and I must learn to do that. We Little Old Ladies with no hand-eye coordination need all the help we can get!
