You guys in the same boat I am when it comes to your followers?\

Im breaking into places sneaking around looking for ingredients and other items of value ,in comes the pissed off store owner telling me to get out starts defending himself and attacking me. I do not want to kill shop keepers unless I have to and i try to back away but my follower ignores my commands to wait and goes full board and decimates the shop keeper. This has happened twice already and now two stores I cant use :(

Tell follower to leave, or leave them at home on wait, they will wait 3 days I think. Always sneak alone, they give away position far too often for my taste.

I agree with Bishdark. I would never bring a follower into a home, even if we're both sneaking around. The situation is different than it is if you're out in a dungeon. You can be held accountable for your actions in a home, basically, and a follower can muck this all up for you.

This really hasn't happend to me much as I don't often loot homes, but the most annoying follower problem I've had happen would be my follower standing in the door way behind me while I'm trying to escape a dungeon! Or perhaps when they culmsily set off a fire rune and I'm wondering how I died for the next fifteen minutes.

Not that issue, sorry friend... I DO need to stop every 10 seconds to make sure they're still back there, and not hung up on a rock, or a step, or other things... like.... oh... the air...

Perhaps they stopped to look at the butterflies? Hell, I know Kharjo should like shiny objects.

Happens to me all the time, they don't seem to realise that the ancient, hostile, booby-trapped crypts are dangerous, they just storm after you straight after you have been carefully navigating a pressure plate

I'm kinda new so I ask, will the follower wait outside the house or shop? For roleplaying, might be good to have someone keeping a lookout outside.

You can ask them to wait, so they won't automatically do it but you can order them to

I'm going to say '^^^this' as well.

Tell them to wait just outside where you intend to sneak. They can be the lookout and svck at that instead. :D

But they will wait in another location if you order them to, right? Or does a load screen when entering a shop or house automatically force them to your side again?

You could tell them to wait at one side of Skyrim, leave, finish 50 quests, go back and theyll still be waiting there. They won't move again unless you want them to

After awhile you get a notice telling you that they left and went home.

You really shouldn't take any followers with you if you're going to commit a heist. They're not very good at being stealthy.

You really need to leave you companion outside when doing a B&E, they tend to either get in the way, get you busted by not sneaking good enough, or kill someone cause you have no option to tell them to stop. On a side note you can RP that your companion is outside keeping six for you

I find that if your ally is acting up ( not behaving as they normally do ) you need to dismiss them and wait a few days before getting them back, it seems to reset their demeanor and they act accordingly.

Yeah, I used to keep close tabs on my followers location but they seem to fall behind too often. Now I just move along at my own pace and eventually they catch up, it's just nice to have someone at your side.

Why would you try to sneak around with a follower? I've been playing a thief lately if you only got one person chasing you there are a million spots where you can just stand there in sneak mode for 10-15 seconds the AI flips out because it can't reach you then goes back to what it was doing before it caught you, then I gotta wait a few days before I can steal from that specific NPC again. Or if you want to instantly lose one of them just sprint out of their sight hit sneak mode next to a door (gotta at least have the flashing eye not detected) and break into another house that NPC that was chasing you won't know where you went and isn't going to tresspass after you so you will lose them like every time.
My thief is an Argonian so if I get too many guards after me I just dive into a river and swim away underwater loses them in no time then I try stealing from a new town.I tend to stick to ripping off the ones where I can make a quick escape in a river or something.

I hate followers, none of them have the sense they were born with.

In a dungeon, I told my follower to wait and I waited just before a trap for the enemy to come to me and take a great deal of damage by triggering the trap themselves. My follower comes flying past me, pushes me forward and sets off the trap. She went right under the log as it swung and hit me full in the face and took half my health bar. She then went on to tackle 6 enemies at once, one being a boss and now there's one less follower in Skyrim. Serves her right for not listening to me the stupid woman.

I was going from Whiterun to Iverstead then to High Hrothgar, lost Lydia halfway to Iverstead. Slept at the inn, spent the day climbing the mountain and chillen with the Greybeards, went back to Iverstead, slept again and then she caught up with me. Bit of a slow one she is...

You'e not supposed to take your followers with you on missions like that anyway---or any mission that requires a brawl (but not a killing). They serve no purpose on those jobs.
