ED-E Honest Hearts issue

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:52 pm

Funny enough, this issue isn't with Honest Hearts itself. It's a problem with the main game that is preventing me from playing Honest Hearts. Awhile ago ED-E got glitched out of my game, but the game still thinks it's following me. Now I can't even start Honest Hearts because you can't take followers with you. Is there any chance this will be addressed at all?

I'm a bit bitter about this right now. I stayed up till 3 so I could grab the DLC, and when I finally boot it up and go to start the quest, guess what, it won't let me because ED-E is stuck in Vault 22. I've already done Dead Money so I can't use that method to send him home. I've tried the elevator method about 15 times in the last two hours, and waiting 9 days doesn't do jack. Any chance you can patch this so when you go to start Honest Hearts it will dismiss your companions for you? I'm at level 29 right now, and really don't feel like negating the last 40 hours of this save to play the DLC.

I keep trying to do almost anything that will probably make ED-E come back to me so I can tell him to leave. Heres what I've done: do elevator trick via vault 22, wait 24 hours (in-game,) go to lucky 38 presidential/ penthouse (Its because that when you go to penthouse the companions are forced to wait down at the casino floor,) I tried exploring vault 22 to find ED-E since it says he's there???????? Right now i'm going to try and do the thorn battle since your companions go to watch you battle, then i'm going to BOS bunker. PS my ED-E is stuck in vault 22 just like OP

Unfortunately you'll need to load up a save prior to when your problems with ED-E began in order to access Honest Hearts. We're working on a fix for this and will have more info soon.

I don't have prior saves, mostly due to the fact that I shouldn't have to keep old saves. Guess I will have to wait until it's fixed. The fact that the issue was actually acknowledged and is being worked on makes me feel better though, thank you.

Yeah i'm having the same problems here. I've got about 66 hours logged into my character and ED-E went missing around 30 hours ago in this save. Hope the issue gets resolved soon. Really want to play this.

Can we get an update on the incoming patch? Last time the game had a major issue it was patched pretty quickly.

If you have the bug, you'll need to revert to an old save.

I'm confused, are you saying that even with the upcoming patch, if EDE is glitched out of the game, the patch will not allow me to play hh?

That's it, this is ridiculous, how hard is it to program the game to force companions out of your party? Wouldn't that theoretically fix it? I don't care if ED-E ever comes back, I want to play this DLC. If this issue is not patched in such a way as to let me play it now I will demand a refund of the game and both DLCs. This is extremely disappointing, I am very disappointed in Obsidian and how they have handled this game.

Just talked to the team: the new patch will provide a way to force your companions to leave your party, thus allowing anyone still encountering the ED-E bug to start up Honest Hearts without reverting to a new save or starting a new character. More info on that patch to come.

Easy way of doing so is the Safe-Houses. Going in such will make companions to leave an so forth. Just a rough idea to give you.

Unfortunately I will not be returning the New Vegas. I am simply fed up with the state of this game. I have run into multiple game breaking and stopping issues since day one. I am sick of putting up with it. I hope Obsidian's future endeavors are less problematic.

Good gnus... I mean news. So I take it you'll be able to force this regardless of the state of your companion?

Why the hell will it take that long?
Just copy the thing that forced your companions out in dead money to honest hearts. That takes maybe over a minute to do.
And then it will be playtested (2 minutes?) And sent to microsoft (Wich could take some time but not a month more like a day i think for a small patch like that)
