Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 3:22 pm

I just started me new character and i cant seem to get honeydew manor, i never bothered much with it before, i cant even get the Jarl to talk to me much after the skooma quest is finished, i did it to the T but something seems wrong. Do i need a higher fame or some such? Does anyone got any idea whats up with this?

You have to do some quests for the locals, 5 in total I think. The skooma quests is just absolutely required to trigger it, it doesnt matter when you do it just that you do. Once you have enough local quests done the Jarl will talk to you about a special job.

My favorite place. You can jump into the lake from your porch and take a quick dip before supper! LOL

this chain is a little bugged... there's been a few threads on it.

you must clear the skooma den and you must do nice things for the people in town, whether the Jarl or her Steward ever actually open the "become thane of Riften" quest with you.

you find out about the skooma den from an argonian woman who needs your help, she's going to lose her job if she goes to work this way one more time, she only needs a healing potion. ask her after you give it to her and she'll reluctantly tell you who she buys from. from there the quest drives you to the Jarl etc...

transfersely... if you don't want all the work... don't choose a side in the MQ and when you have the summit at high hrothgar give the empire Riften in exchange for giving Markarth to Ulfric and when you get back to Riften the new Jarl will be VERY grateful and shows her appreciation by letting you buy Honeyside.

Anyone know how to get around the skooma den problem if you had previously cleared the cave? FYI, this is Xbox related so console isn't an option.

I know once you do the civil war quests and taken over a hold getting the house is pretty much instant, the only thing you would have to quest for is to earn the right to thane, but the house will be available. Just an option if you want to start the civil war.

are you saying you cleared it outside of being sent there? if you did, talk to the argonian in Riften and give her the potion and then ask her who she was getting her skooma from... you wouldn't know the two things were connected until you followed it through to the point of getting the journal and seeing that you were done...

if you have already cleared the den in the chain I'd say keep going doing nice things for people in Riften... there's some easier ones if you don't want to collect 10 fire salts or the frost salts for the food vendor or go get Mijol's sword.

the glitch is just that the quest doesn't always open about becoming a Thane... the chain still exists and the game is still tracking your success. my boyfriend is on a 360 and hadn't realized he still had an open quest for Madessi so he found the gold and the gems for him and when he went to the palace the Jarl and the Steward both had the right dialogues.
