My mom thinks the singer's voice sounds nice, though she doesn't care for the song itself. It would have been good if Skyrim's bards sounded more musically-talented than they do, but I like them well enough.
My mom arrived at her judgement without having "a thing" for the singer's looks or "a thing" for the quality of the singer's fans. Commenting on the singer's looks and the fans' drives, even in a negative way, shows that one has "a thing" for those looks and those drives. In the negative comments of this thread, that thing, not the performance itself, shines forth as the reason that the performance is disliked.
This singer's voice is certainly not bad, though it may now be too well-recognized as a real-world thing. I want to think "Hey, I like this bard", not "Hey, it's her!"
