Horse combat

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:39 pm

So I dont get it. Mount and Blade can have decent horse combat, but a game as renowned as skyrim doesnt? Why even have horses in game at all? That was one of my hugest letdowns in oblvion and i guess it returns to haunt me in skyrim. But im sure if it did it would be riddled with bugs, just like everything else in this game.

Um. Well, the entire mounted setup in TES is now and always has been - uh.... "marginal" is about as polite as I can get I guess. I can't even imagine how bad mounted combat would be.

Even WoW, as mount-dependent as it is, doesn't do mounted combat for the most part (and the few times it HAS, it's generally been a disaster for anyone on less than a T1, since lag can be a HUGE issue - the Tourney comes to mind, where if your lag is anything over 40ms, you simply can't compete.... literally).

And since "knight in shining armor" isn't my idea of fun in a game, I wouldn't be using it if it WAS included in Skyrim.

...other people might though. It just seems counter intuitive. Jumping off a horse to fight? Just get rid of the damn things if there going to be unpleasanlty unrealistic.

I've owned horses in real life, bud. Believe me, unless you're channeling the Spanish Riding Academy, you're NOT going to be whacking at anything with a sword from horseback.

And considering your obnoxious response in the other thread, I'm now putting you on ignore. Have fun with your grousing over bugs etc.

I'm OK with the horses because I don't want to fight every spider, wolf, bear, etc that I ride by. I just wish the horses would not fight or be attacked when I dismount.

It's not a horse it's a jeep.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horses_in_warfare

also see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%8Cdachi

The average length of an ōdachi is 65–70 inches long (approx 165–178 cm), often with a 4–5 foot blade. This made them unsuitable for close-quarters combat. Instead, they are commonly believed to have been used by fighters on horseback, as the blade length would allow them to take down infantry (without risk of being pulled off their mount).

Yeah yeah I know 'citing from wikipedia is bad, always use a primary source'...

I see what you're saying though, there's nothing to say the dragonborn should be good at mounted combat from the get go... but this leaves the possibility of having it as an additional skill, with its own set of related perks and trainers.

Khajiit has fur who help some, however forsworn armor in snowstorm is cold.
However even if I put on a warm robe I have no clothing for my cold tail, zaria thing it must be even worse for the Argonian who have no fur on their tails.

Khajiit wishes he could cut off tail, due to khajiit tail being uncomfortable when khajiit duel weilds his weapons.
He also wishes for mounted combat, as a skill because even tho Khajiit has shadowmere as a horse-friend, he just walks like fellow Khajiit, M'aiq anyway.

plus epic at ship to ship battles, something khajiit also wishes was implemented in skyrim
