Is horse speed going to be fixed?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 9:47 pm

Just wondering if horse speed will be boosted since Bethesda has added combat while on a horse?

"The horses in Skyrim are hardy and strong, and make up in endurance what they lack in speed."

That's a lie... horses's lack of speed in this game does not make up for their endurance! My horse gets tired after... less than 25 seconds of sprinting =.=

No, they may add faster horses at some point.

It will never be fixed and heres why, because consoles can't handle it. They had to make them slower because the maps couldn't keep up with the streaming, hell they can't even handle current horse speeds, anyone whos tried to gallop from one town to another knows... you hit the lag and stuttering so bad you have to stop and wait for the loading to catch up...

That made absolutely no sense. Whatsoever.

Consoles can't load cells as fast as you can ride.
Which is probably the reason for the skooma nerf, too.

It lags a bit for me sometimes.
And if horses were faster, it would be worse.

I don't think I've ever had to load from galloping too fast. Only textures popping up slower, but no lag.

Edit: Just tried it by galloping full speed from Whiterun to Rorikstead with no problem.

Are the horses slower or faster than they were in Oblivion? The black horse in Oblivion was insanely fast!

The lack of speed would be permissible if you could truly treat your horse like a beast of burden and make them haul a wagon full of your loot.

They are about as fast as the painted horse in OB IMO.So a bit slower than the average OB horse.

What I don't get is why couldn't they make some variants of horses with different statistics. It's clearly not much work, they already had the textures for them.
It could be a good money sink, too.

Remember casting fortify speed 100 points on your horse in Oblivion? They had a 3x stat multiplier, so they actually got 300 speed from it. I actually had 1 white horse that glitched and stayed with boosted speed. Unfortunately when I got off its walking speed was too fast and it walked away at mach 3...

Brilliant. I never paid that much attention to horses in OB, but I'm thinking of firing it up and giving it another go.

As for the OP - as many people have said, it's not broken. I did think the first time I heard a stablehand tell me about how slow the horses were that other stables would have different types of horses. But it makes sense really. A really fast light horse wouldn't particularly do well around Winterhold.

I think the horses in skyrim are just in right speed for me. I like that crusing feeling.
I don't really want any more faster than that, because it'll make the world feel smaller than it is.

Topic: The horses of skyrim are different breeds than the ones in Oblivion. These ones are tougher, but slower. The game loading hints and what not even tells you that.

I don't know maybe if this is different but what about read dead redemption? Horses went insanely fast in that game.

I would better hope they fix the spidercrawling abilities of the horses that can climb 90% inclination slopes ....

What a stupid feature...
