Hostile NPCs

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 8:01 am

I'm having this problem where random NPCs will go hostile and try to attack me for no reason and no amount of yielding will get them to stop. Even the guards and other people will attack them in my defense. I'm wondering if any of you guys have encountered this problem and know of any fixes. Any help will be appreciated since I don't want to kill them.

I found if a faction or city is mad at you then this may happen. In some cities the guard will randomly start attacking as if you just committed a crime as well. I corrected both behaviors by picking a fight with a guard and putting away my weapon. It cost some gold to pay the fine but it rest the problem for the area and everything returned to normal. I haven't had this issue in Dragonborn, just in Skyrim so I hope this helps.

Ok, thanks for the tips. I don't think I have made anyone mad though, and when I yield to the guards, they just go about their business and I don't have to pay any fines.

Are they following you into town from the wild? There are random encouters of hostile NPC's that will come after you. since these towns are not walled off I could see one chasing you into town.

I had this happen to me so I looked in my stats and saw that I had a high bounty on me that I didn't even realize I had. I did the yield thing and then another guard told me I was a wanted woman, so I paid the bounty and that fixed it. This was my experience, so I don't know if it would help you or not, but I posted it anyway. :)
