Hotkey Issue

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 9:05 pm

I've looked around online for my problem and can't seem to get any results, so I'm wondering if anyone here knows what's wrong with my game.

Here's my problem.

- I set (at least 2) different weapons to be hotkeyed, lets say #1 is an Axe and #2 is a Bow.
- I start with my axe and press 2 to switch to my bow. This works fine.
- When I try to press 1 again to switch back to my Axe, the hotkey has unassigned itself and I have to manually go into my favourites and re-select it.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there something wrong with my game/can it be fixed?
It's terribly annoying.
Cheers.

Are you sure your hotkeying both items on different keys? IE on 360/PS3 using left for item 1 and right for item 2?

I'm on PC and am I'm pressing different keys, yes.

It registers in the favourites menu and I can select them there. It's just the hotkey unassigns itself when I switch to another hotkey.

Do you only have one axe? If you have more than one of the same, it can cause this.

On further examination I've come to realise that it has nothing to do with my other hotkeys.
As soon as I unequip my bow which is hotkeyed in the number 1 slot, it seems to unassign it.
Although the Healing spell which is hotkeyed to the number 2 slot, can be equiped and unequiped and remains hotkeyed.

Weird. I would check to see if its that specific bow or any bows in general that do it. Or if its just hotkey 1 with that bow. Trying putting it on 2 or 3 and try another cheapo bow also.

Aha, after playing around with it for a while, I realised the problem.

Although it's strange I guess, it's because I had two of that bow on my character.

Yes, the game does not know which of the two to put back. This is why I enchant a bow or weapon that I use, so the game gives it a different form ID.

Yeah, however irritating it is.
I just dropped the other bow and moved along, shame but I can't be bothered to enchant it.

Cheers guys

I may be wrong here, but I think you can go to an enchanting altar, put the bow on, press F to rename it (assuming PC), and then rename it without putting an enchantment on it.

I'll try it, thanks
