House of Horrors *SPOILERS*

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 5:00 am

So I came out of a building in.. Marthal I think, and happened upon a conversation between the House of Horrors guy and a guard.
At any rate, he asked me to go in with him, so I did. And then the quest started. When he attacked me, I waited for him to strike first, etc. When I was imprisoned, I never agreed to help the Daedric, so he let me go saying 'fine then' or something.

My question is; is there any way to complete this quest as a good character? I don't want to find the priest if there won't be any dialogue options like "I need to warn you about this, etc". I've read up on it, and it seems there is only one way to complete it.

If you can't do it as a good character, then what is it doing there to begin with? I didn't reload as I try to play what happens, and it was unfortunate that the guy attacked me and I defended myself, but I in no way agreed to get this priest to kill. But it's there in my quest log.

I'm on XBox, so no console commands will work.

No, I don't mean is there a way to make the Daedric guy good. I mean is there any other way to complete the quest that doesn't involve killing the priest? I assumed the Daedra will remain bad no matter what.

Nope. If you're going to perform tasks for the Daedric Princes, expect to have do something vile.

It was worth it to me to do whatever I had to just to shut the guy up as I walk by. I was tired of him asking me "Excuse me, do you know anything about this house?". I usually just backed out of the conversation and went on about my business. I finally played it through until the end. That priest dude was a punk, anyway. Death to all punk [censored]es I say.

The pathetic mace you get from completion isn't really worth it anyway.

Unless you have a thing and HAVE to complete every single quest in the game. In that case your simply screwed.

if you have to put *spoilers* in the title its probably safe to say it should be in the spoilers section.

I thought the mace you got at the end of this quest was great!!! But i did this quest at a pretty low level...low twenties

I also did this a a "good" character but the way i justified it was...If some great god-like voice was talking to you, and it apparently with the power to swat you dead like a fly, good or not, you would kind of do what he asked...i roleplayed it as i didn't really have a choice

Yeah, this should be in spoilers... but

Spoiler
I had the same question about the quest where you go with the cannibal lady. She wants me to lure the priest to her. I want the option to warn the priest and choose the side of good. Bethesda really should have given more opportunities to act freely rather than being forced to be evil. I thought I was doing to a quest for the main Elder Scroll Quest... and I ended up collecting blood and ending a life. I had no idea.

The option to end evil quests via the "good" path, even if it means no reward, should be present. Otherwise the quest log gets really cluttered.

Not really, other than Azura and one or two others the Daedric princes are demonic and represet the seven deadly sins, and neutral aspects like knowledge.

Just the ability to abandon non-essential quests from the journal would be enough for me. In the example of the house of horrors, you can't leave the house until that guy is dead, and then you have to look at the quest every time you bring up the journal...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't you abandon quests in Oblivion?

you send the daedra to hell, (refuse his offer), you can still get out of the house but cant get the mace

I don t think there is a way to avoid fighting the stendar guy, but if you dont attack him, he go nuts and attack you, making you the deffender (good)

It s possible that a calm spell would work

other than that, yes, the daedric quests sort of svck because we are not given any options
