I dont get why Im killing him/disabling him after giving him the chip (I thought we were suppose to work together)? And who the hell is GOOD or BAD or are they both? Too bad, there is no good or bad in New Vegas, only more evil or less evil.

House would force you to destroy the Brotherhood, Yesman don't. Take your pick.

I think the only person you HAVE to murder with Yes Man is Mr. House, so less negative karma for Wild Card questline I think.

You don't have to kill House with Yesman, you can simply disconnect him from the network.

the reason why its also confusing me is because if you choose yes man then the ncr wont support you anymore (dont tread on the bear) and to me so far in the game the NCR are the good guys......but whatever, i guess i'll just play it out and see what happens but i do NOT want to kill NCR people....

Do you open his chamber to do that?

You do NOT have to kill ANY NCR with House or Yes Man as long as you have 100 speech (and arguably a good sneak for one of the missions). Otherwise at end game you will be forced into conflict with a few (literally, 5 I think?) NCR members. You do not have to kill them yourself but their deaths are unavoidable without the 100 speech (magazine usage is possible as long as you use it before entering dialogue)

As for why, they're not perfect by any means. They want to use the courier as much as anyone else, siding with someone other than them puts you on their black list. Put it this way, if you do the NCR run you have to assassinate House. They don't like him (or Yes Man, but they don't know about him till the very end).

Also, disconnecting House is a fate far worse than death. Seriously, it's a horribly cruel thing to do, if you want the best path morally when it comes to it, kill House, don't just leave him to slowly die...it's a horrible way to go.

Of course, NV is too grey to allow any one path to be best, this is purposeful, obviously. It also leads to some interesting endings...

Thank you for the detailed message, great stuff! So here's the thing--- I sided with House and went down to the basemant and am now back in the penthouse ok----- now in the quest log, it says kill/disable house and return to yes man.......I dont want to go to yes man, I want to do quests for house.... Is that ok to just go to the Fort and do quests? When does yes man go away and I can just deal with House?

Yes man can never go away, his implementation is soley so no can break the games main quest. You don't HAVE to kill House, you can ignore yes man for the entire game honestly.

You might just be advancing the Wild Card quest too. Just don't kill him.

IMO House is better.

Houe has the future in mind, and is the best choice for humanities advance. not to mention he pretty much lets everyone else outside be, which makes him the most human choice (other than NCR but they are screwing people left and right).

Oh, and once you beat the game, Yes Man' last few words to you are very... concerning...

You guys/girls are awesome thank you. Call me crazy but is this the final mission? Doing all these things with the chip n house?

Also just to confirm, I don't have to kill or disconnect house, just leave him n go to the fort n other places?

Thanks again!!!

No, House has you do 7 missions. And no, you don't have to. If you want to work for Mr. House, just do as he asks and you'll be golden. Personally, I see House as the only one with a reasonable plan for the future.

What quest is highlighted in your pip boy? (far right button, third bit along, next to world map)
Sounds like you've currently got the Yes Man quest as your selected quest, go to the quests tab in the Pipboy and select "The House Always Wins", should make it easier to see what you need to do!

You don't go near House for his playthrough, just use the computer to interact, the other playthroughs (all 3) require you to kill or disconnect him, but not House's.
