Hey guys! I just recieved the Thane title and i got an housecarl ( lydia ) but when i tell her to follow me she tells me:"looks like you already have someone with you" or something in that way but the thing is my last follower died long time ago..am i doing something wrong or will she follow me as soon as i leave the castle? ( I have just recieved her so i hav not even left the castle yet so I just thought "better safe then sorry" so that's why I am here asking )

Do you have the companion's quest where you have to meet Farkas somewhere? If you do you need to finish that first, he counts as a follower.

You can also try fast traveling and see who shows up with you..... unless you have a quest where you are meeting someone somewhere. You could fast travel and if nobody shows up with you, start checking your journal.
