How about a tiny bit of acknowledgment from the citizens of

I am THE dragonborn, el saviour of the all know world, archmage of the college of winterhold, leader of the companions and named as a thane in all of the nine holds.......still........people of skyrim gives me absolutely ZERO acknowledgment of what i have done. Even the little kids piss on me when they pass me by. People of skyrim are alive and well BECAUSE OF ME!

Show me some mother ******* respect, aight!

Seriously, this really is a game braker for me and takes away tons of immersion out of the game.

How do you feel about all this?

I take solace in a job well done. I don't need a pat on the back from some stranger.

The guards are always going on about my accomplishments, you must be hanging out with the wrong crowd of NPCs.

It's really bloody annoying isn't it?

I don't expect universal acknowledgement around the world, that would be unrealistic.

But if I finish a questline I expect to be acknowledged by my new title. Walking around Whiterun people SHOULD know me as The Harbinger of The Companions. Walking past guards on the way to the Mages College they SHOULD address me as Archmage.

Every time my Harbinger walks around town to be greeted by guards as 'Oh, you're the new member of The Companions. So you do what? Pour the mead?' I want to CHIN them. :stare:

Do you save the world often? Oh what am I saying, of course you don't.

I was an adventurer like you. Very successful, obviously.

I actually advise the jarl on riding dragons. But this is probably a bit over your head.

Farengar: If you've got the apptitude, you should join the college of winterhold. *standing there in Arch Mages robes wielding the Staff of Magnus with master lvl spells...*

I can understand people not talking about the end of Alduin and that, but when it comes to some of the guild quest lines.............. No.

I don't want a "pat on the back" I want the respect due to the position.

I basically agree with this, however at least the mages at the college do a better job of acknowledging your promotion than those mage scholars that actually continued to diss you (didn't have time to talk) at the Arcane University in Oblivion. Also, my character tends to take matters into his own hands. Ria, was always one of the most understated, lowly and generally helpful members of the companions. She was the only one who congratulated and offerred support for your ascension to harbinger. In return, my character plucked her from the crowd and seriously buffed her out with enchanged health rings, jewelry, and a glowing RiaBurner that shimmers on her back as she struts through the hall. She is now the envy of Jorvaskr, and accompanies my character for intense training. As a result of her loyalty, she definitely killed more than a bear last night, and looks cute curled up for a nap in my arch-mage tower.

I could do with less acknowledgement from NPC's actually. Tired of every idiot I walk towards speaking up. The inn's are by far the worst. Take one step towards that guy, he starts talking. Take another towards that gal, she starts talking. So on and so on... Gah.

And in practically the same breath you get "Disrespect the law and you disrespect me". Yeah, all the NPCs were much quicker to acknowledge your status as Champion of Cyrodiil. Skyriim drops the ball concerning NPC dialog.

I feel that if the NPCs had proper dialogue scripting, the frequency would drop but the relevance would increase.

NPCs mostly acknowledge you for things you have done for them or their city.
The guilds are too removed from everyday life for the average npc to notice. The Thieves and Assassins are supposed to be undercover, the College of Winterhold is in a remote corner of the world, and the Companions are pretty much just a Whiterun faction.

I do agree that the population seems to have a complete disinterest in anything about dragons and the main quest. There is not even any randomised dialogue in the towns with people fretting about the threat. Only if you kill a dragon inside a town do the npcs have a few "wow its a dragon" lines.

Farengar should not be directing the PC to the Mages Guild after they have completed the quest and have become the Guildmaster.

Guards should not be asking the Harbinger if he fetches mead for the companions.

Dirge should not be threatening the Thieves' Guild Master.
