How do i add water?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 12:50 am

Hello, i'm quite new to this whole thing, and one thing i'm having particular difficulty understanding is the placing of water.
I know how to get to the water settings in world/cell... but whenever i change any of the settings nothing happens. I change the height/type/velocity etc...

Also, i cant quite work out the lighting. I'm trying to make my cave almost pitch black save for any direct sources of light i put in myself.
any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys!

1. You place water objects, not water height in the cell properties. You can scale it up to 10 if you need to. I have not looked much into it yet, you may have to place image modifiers (?) as well.
2. In the same cell properties, there is a 'Light' tab. It controls the cell lighting.

I usually use the water found in World Objects > Activator , you can try using those.

I suppose a better question would have been "how do i turn the lighting OFF"? :P

On the subject of water, anybody know how to make walls watery?

Is this a specific tile for walls that have water trickling down them? Or is this an effect added?

I think you're going to want to play with waterfall effects found in World Objects > Movable Statics > Effects. If it's not in there you'd have to make your own effect to put there, but i don't see why you couldn't use something like "FXWaterfallThinSheet" on a wall if you placed it well.

Hmm yeah that might work.

I swear I've seen walls that 'glimmer' with water running down it, as if an effect had been applied straight to the wall.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll see what works.

if they glimmer when you move it's a shader effect which can be applied to the wall itself. If it's a constant movement i think it has to be an animated effect and you'd find it in the movable statics. I hope someone else comes in and tells me I'm wrong though yours sounds cool. What dungeon?

After I change the settings and apply etc, i need to zoom out about 5 or 6 cells then come back to where the water is and it loads/shows up.
