How is Brink now a days?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 12:07 pm

I got brink the first day it released, but could not deal with the lag, I just got done playing MAG (for about 2 years) which is now chopped full of lag and freezing so I am just wondering is there still a problem with lag? also, if I do pick up the game I can't remember if this game supported clan's or not but if it does, I am very familliar with tactical shooters, I've played MAG, SOCOM 4, Killzone 3, and others, so I will need a clan running around with randoms all the time gets boring...

Thanks :foodndrink:

Supposedly, they fixed the lag to a certain degree, but I see no difference. I can't say for sure about the lag issue, but I never had any lag and I can pull off 8v8 quite well.
As for clans, sources say next update should include clans, but if not, it is certainly the update after that. So yea, I say sit tight. Download the DLC and you should enjoy Brink after that.

Depends where you live and who you play with (ie. who is hosting). I stopped playing MAG because it was so [censored] unbearable after a year that I couldn't even play Sabotage without raging, my connection just couldn't handle it. Yet if I play Brink with somebody locally I notice absolutely ZERO lag, I've played 4v4 with local players (which is a LOT of players considering I live in New Zealand) and it's felt as seamless as SP.

But then if I hop into a US friend's game (which is thousands of miles away) it's pretty laughable performance-wise... only because I get 30-60% ping bars because of the distance though, and the game is fun enough to play through the lag anyway. Basically playing with people locally you shouldn't have a problem, and if you do it may be down to YOUR connection or another player may be lagging out.

Also don't get your hopes up for clans, tbh.

Don't be fooled by the lack of people on the forums. The numbers on the game don't reflect them. During peak hours I can drop into a game and there'll be at least 5-8 people on either side at the most. And these are just randoms. Super is correct in the region as well. I'm on the northeast coast of the U.S. (As my SN obviously implies), where apparently there are a LOT of people still playing Brink, because every night I see new names as well as familiar ones.

Yup, concurred - lots of new players from lots of different countries turning up now. I had a swathe of names on my players-met-list from two games today; must have been full matches.

Ok, Thanks all I bought it off of gamefly for 5 bucks so if I'm dissapointed (probally won't be, super exited to play again!) it's only 5 dollars.
