How do we call this game?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:54 am

For a while, I use to call this game Fallout New Vegas, but I am a lazy person. Also lazy in typing as well, so now I just call the game New Vegas. My son even knows what I am talking about now. So what about you guys? Is Fallout: New Vegas or just New Vegas for you?

Either one...When used in the same context as other Fallout games, I just say New Vegas.

If I'm talking to people that know the franchise, I only need to say Fallout- they know which title is coming out.
If it's someone that doesn't know Fallout, simply calling it New Vegas would require further explanation, so I just call it Fallout-New Vegas.

On here, I just refer to it as NV, since we all know what we're talking about. If I'm ever talking about it with a friend IRL, I'll probably say "Fallout: New Vegas" unless I know they know what it is already. E.g. "Hey man, you heard of Fallout: New Vegas?"; or a friend I know who is into the game: "Hey, what's your opinion on the companions in New Vegas?"

Basically, if the person/s I'm talking with already know about the game I'll drop the "Fallout," but if I'm talking about the game with someone who doesn't know much about it I'll probably use the full title.

Depends I'll start with Fallout: New Vegas, then go to New Vegas, then probably deteriorate to "it".

Instead of saying Fallout I just say New Vegas for a shorter saying.

I just say New Vegas. Everyone knows what I'm talking about as long as the conversation is about video games. It's the same way as when people refer to Vice City or San Andreas, as long as video games are the topic, everyone knows you're referring to the Grand Theft Auto games. I find having to say Fallout: New Vegas every time is just as tedious as saying Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

I started conversations with a simple "I can't wait for New Vegas to come out." and I've never met confusion as to whether or not it was Fallout related.

Though I have heard so people think New Vegas is just an expansion pack or DLC for Fallout 3. That confusion seems to occur for some people from the Fallout: New Vegas title. They think its Fallout 3: New Vegas.

We'll all eventually call it New Vegas anyway, just like we say Tactics and Brotherhood of Steel to refer to the other named (non-numbered) games in the series. Why not start now?

If I am speaking with people who know about, like this forum, then I'll say New Vegas. Otherwise, Fallout: New Vegas.

When talking about it to people who are either Fallout fans or gamers, I just say New Vegas and people always know what I'm talking about. If I recall correctly I don't think I've ever actually had to say Fallout: New Vegas in real life. I've only ever typed it.

I voted for Fallout: New Vegas, because that's what it is officially.
However, you can call it New Vegas for short, or even F:NV.

The Vice City anology continues to be helpful- its official title was "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City", but people call it "Vice City" for short, or even "GTA:VC".

People will know what you mean regardless.

"Whoah, what's New Vegas, you mean, FALLOUT: New Vegas, or some other game?"

I'm pretty much the same as everyone else. When talking to you guys or someone else who know the franchise I say New Vegas. If it's a person who doesn't know about Fallout I say Fallout: New Vegas. Just like how we don't refer to Tactics as "Fallout Tactics" on here. If it's not numbered then I'm just saying the title of the game.

Fallout 4

Removing the number from the name and giving it a title has become pretty popular. Why not just stick to the old system?

Possibly because it isn't Fallout 4?

I go between Fallout: New Vegas, F:NV, or FNV

@Butter- Antibody is right. Fallout:New Vegas is being developed by Obsidian, and Fallout 4 is an upcoming title being developed by Bethesda. So It goes Fallout 3, Fallout:New Vegas, and then Fallout 4

Well, since we are on Fallout New Vegas forums I just say Vegas or NV and when talking about alot of fallout games I shorten it down to FO3 FOT & FNV.

Well, in that case Bethesda's project should be titled Fallout 5, shouldn't it?

*sigh* No, okay. It works like this

Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, and the eventual Fallout 4 are the main titles

Fallout: Tactics, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, and Fallout: New Vegas are side games. Get it?
