How can I make Skyrim run better?

Post » Tue Jul 10, 2012 6:06 pm

I usually play Skyrim on an i7 with graphics set to ultra, but right now that's not an option. The computer I have available to me is an old AMD Athlon 64, in other words, it's a single core. My graphics card is an Nvidia GT 520, and my ram is 2 gb. Any tips on how to make it run as fast as possible? More FPS is the goal here, not graphics.

I've tried running it in windowed mode set to 1152x864, and it runs better. Most of my settings are set to the minimum amount possible, except texture quality, which is set to medium.

Another problem I have is mouse acceleration, is there a way to turn it off? That would make the game a lot easier to play in windowed mode.

Oh, and don't bother telling me to buy a better computer, I know it's [censored]. But I'm a stubborn bastard when it comes to Skyrim.
