Check your magic effects; you probably have a disease.

Although, side note, I've noticed sometimes alchemists/potion merchants will say something about you looking ill and needing a cure, even if you are not sick. It's like a sales pitch scheme. But ordinary NPCs saying it (or if you hear it frequently), probably sick. Drink yourself a cure disease potion.

Go to your magic menu, then choose active effects to see what sickness you have. You can get cured at any altar.

Because you probably do have a disease or two.

Go to your magic screen, then look under active effects and if you have an illness it will be in red there and it'll tell you what effect the disease is having on you.

You catch diseases when animals and vampires bite you.

To cure either use a cure disease potion or get a blessing from one of the Divines at a temple.

Ignore Arcadia (Alchemy supply shop) in Whiterun, she'll tell you that you don't look well even if you have nothing wrong with you

Some of the NPCs say you don't look well if they're involved in alchemy or they're self-proclaimed healers, for example Arcadia in Whiterun. I think this is just part of their sales pitch to sell you ingredients and potions, but it could be a bug.

I am very new to the whole Elder Scrolls and got Skyrim for Christmas from my daughter. I have been taking it slowly but yesterday I realised I am a lvl 4 Vampire. I did get the screen moving and the notice that my vampire blood boils in the sunlight but I ignored it, because I didn't know what it meant. I was also getting told I look pale. I have started another character but I will go back to my original one eventually. I checked the forums yesterday and I should have done that before I started! You guys are so helpful and I now know what I will be doing for a few days - reading the forums.
On my 2nd attempt, I missclicked and chopped an old lady who then fought back and said I had discovered her secret. I killed her and took her things, then got lost and arrived back at her place and she was still lying there dead........ I felt a bit bad for the old girl.
So now I am a lvl4 Vampire and with another character I am a murderer, I really wanted to go the 'good' route for the first time and things are conspiring against me:) If there is a thread for Noobs like me I would appreciate a point in the right direction. Thanks :)

Maybe you have vampirism. When you first get it, it doesn't show in active effects. Before you know it, everyones attacking you because your a stage 4 vampire.

To get rid of vampirism (if you don't want it), feed on a sleeping person first (without being seen, because people will be hostile - level 4 vampirism comes with an once a day invisibility spell, look for it on "Powers", and use it to get to someone's house), then ask someone about rumors, until they tell you about someone researching vampires. Do that quest and you'll be cured.

Yeah, Ive heard Arcadia telling me that I look pale, and I hadnt slept on that character in days, cause its not really needed. Then when I ask her if she's a healer, she tells me about being an alchemist and how if she had a gold for every disease she's cured, she'd be rich. I'd like to know where all these cheap/free potions are. :ermm:

They do, been noticing it alot with my Nord past couple of days. I thought it was just me.. I touch the Talos Shrine in Whiterun almost twice daily. (Gets rid of diseases, SCREW paying hundreds for a potion..)

Might be a new bug?

Same here; been looking to see if I caught a disease. I'm starting to think Arcadia's just a good salesperson and needs us to purchase her potions but then again, others have also made that comment to me.

When alchemists say it, it's fake, but when other NPC's say it, it's real.

Except for the alchemist, every time someone has said that to me, I've checked, and I did indeed have some kind of disease.
