Because ... not.

All classes have the same number of abilities. 12, if I'm not mistaken. However, the devs seem to focus least on the Soldier's.

yes this is kinda true to a point... solider gets same amount of skills as other classes but they are presumably far more generic which is why they aren't mentioned much, because soldiers are just meant for killing people.

Oh, actually the Molotov, which is mentioned in literally every other video is a Soldier ability. Same goes for Bombs, which are shown in every other video as well. And handing out ammo.

Soldier has a wide range of bombs in the game. Flash grenades, caltrops (maybe), and your Molotov.

Soldier is basically your tank in the game. Soaking up the most damage with Kevlar Armor ability. Or the ability to Scavenge the equipment of Dead enemies by interacting with them to refill the supply meter, and the the most important is supplying the team with ammo. You will run out of ammo, and the moment you see another solider come your way and you don't have any more clips, you would wish a friendly soldier threw you a mag to take the enemy out.

Oh almost forgot, you have your HE Charge. Great for destroying shortcuts for the enemy or blowing up new ways to get across the map. Both equally fantastic to achieve.

Soldier:

You can resupply your ammo and your team's

You can blow up objectives (And are sometimes required to do so)

You have molotovs, a better grenade.

You can have flashbangs.

You can start with a Kevlar Vest.

You can have bigger magazines than everybody else.

You can improve your explosives damage.

You can improve your Explosives area of effect.

You can provide Armor Piercing ammo to the team and yourself

You can use Scatchel Charges (Remote detonated C4) and nobody else can.

You can pick supplies off dead bodies.

==With your abilities set up the right way and the fact that you have access to two grenades on seperate timers and the ability to enhance them, you can be pretty frickan heavy on the amount of explosives being thrown in the other team's direction.==

When buffed by Medic(s) and or Engineer(s) you have the most potential for destruction.

Very true. A Buffed out Kevlar Armored heavy with special ammo, max out health buffs, and loads of clips, and is carrying a mini-gun or a grenade launcher is very much like fighting a turret or a tank.... that can move and vault over waist high objects. Scary...

Also note: This man might have a medic beside him or yet another solider version of this next to him. Another set of eyes and buffed out potential is yet again... scary..

Engineer: buff guns, plant mines, repair stuff/remove bombs and hacks, turrets.
Operative: hack, disguise, spot mines.
Medic: buff hp of others and self, revive the fallen.
Soldier: buff and dispense ammo, molotovs, plant bombs.

Seems balanced to me. And then there's another 12 skills available per class.

The tatic I want to try the most is getting hit with an Adrenaline Rush buff (Temporary invincibility)via a Medic and then running in and planting c4 /detonate.

..provided it does not have a set up time.

It would not surprise me if it was one hit kill, or maybe two of them are. (You can have three out at a time)

Don't know that everybody has the same number but they're all close in the number of abilities they have.

This is sort of the point that I've been trying to get at in another thread, in that they have done quite a bit to make the Op and Engineer seem much more appealing to the average gamer. The soldier has some good abilities, but so far they have not sold him in the same way they have with the others.

We have yet to see the full extent of the abilities for each class. The videos show the abilities of the classes that most people will use and maintain in the game. We'll get to see for ourselves in a few days.

As someone said, Soldiers abilities are more combat-oriented. He specialize in ammo-giving and grenade types. One video said he is a frontline tackle or "Assault" class-type.

To be honest, Soldiers get the most honor since they will see the most deaths.

The soldier in Brink seems to be a mix of the Soldier (heavy weapons/explosions), Engineer (destroy objectives) and Field Op (give out ammo) of Wolfenstein: ET.
His role is vital in every mission it seems. They need to blow up things, keep the team supplied with ammo, and dish out some major damage.

IN other words, SD knows EVERYONE would want to play a soldier, so they had to show off the other... traditionally less appealing classes more.

I think that plan back fired in a way that now the general concepetion is that soldiers are just regular grunts that have nothing special about them, which is sure to lead to an early shortage of the explosive loving monsters :hubbahubba:

I know for one I won't be contributing to that lack of soldiers ;D
My first character is gonna be a medium soldier. Assault rifle with an SMG as a secondary weapon, Fortress archetype, blowin' sh*t up.. ;D Glorious.
