How to Continue Ranking...

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:10 am

Some people have suggested making the level cap 40, and I say hell no at first. We could have 100 skills point in everything practically... but what about this?

Every rank, you can relocate up to 10 skill points (take 10 out of Repair, put it in Sneak), and you can also replace a perk you don't want (not including Here And Now). For instance, I don't want Cowboy anymore. Lever-actions and knives are behind me. I want to use a shotgun.

You and your options. Soon you'll be asking the grim reaper to make death optional. Then we'll all be happy.

I don't need the skill points, but more perks would be fun.

Don't worry, I've been harassing him for about a year now, I think he's ready to crack.

Why wouldn't you want to level up? Do you enjoy reading mags that much to do things? If you want to take the hard wait out just shoot the people you want to. I like the idea of raising the level cap.

Why wouldn't you want to level up?

Cause some of us likes balance?
Cause some of us likes to roleplay?
Cause some of us does not want a demi-god?
Cause some of us does not want to be forced to level up?

So that you can balance the game and not make it impossible to fail anything.

I'd support an optional use of skill points. That could make the game more challenging.

there aint that much danger in the mojave in fact no enemy is any danger to me and sadly the dearhclaws won't respwan for some reason and how does it affect role playing? but i agree that the player should have the option, i for one like leveling up, but i can agree that my current character is a bit OP. bater 100, EW 98, Explosives 75 plus 3 ranks of demolition expert, guns 80, melee 75, lockpick 100, Medicine 60, Repair 90, Science 70, Sneak 75, Speech 65, Unarmed 15, Survival 15

As I've stated on several occasions.. all they need to do is add in a toggle that would allocate half xp to characters.. extending the leveling for those that like to explore and do more in the game while at the same time allowing people who just want to play the story to advance to higher levels quicker. The amount of xp given for killing some creatures is ridiculous. There's no reason a baby deathclaw should give the same xp as an alpha deathclaw. I mean really .. if your at lower levels and have enough ammo and a sniper rifle you can gain 5 levels by just sniping deathclaws in the quarry. If you start a brand new character and run straight to begin Dead Money (without getting killed.. it is slightly hard to get there.) you'll come out of the add-on at level 15-18 having done absolutely nothing in the main story. They simply give too much xp for quests and kills.
More levels aren't necessary.. the game is balanced rather well if you just play the story and don't do much side questing. Problem is they added in this large fun world to explore. Why they would go through the trouble of having all this extra stuff to do and then not take into account that you'd reach the level cap way before finishing the game is beyond me.

Given that the mod to raise the level cap to 100 actually only raises it to 50, and the fact that we got an increase of 5 with the last one, and because there are three more DLCs to go, I'm inclined to think that each one will raise the level cap by 5.

I guess they will take it up to LV50.

Dead Money: 35
Honest Hearts: 40
Old World Blues: 45
Lonesome Road: 50

I wish they would make skills go higher than 100 and gave us extra Perks for getting to i.e. Guns 125.

Are you kidding hell no. I need more skill points. I dont wana movem!

The current cap of 35 is a bit too high for my liking as things are, since I can easily max out 8 skills and with some work at least 2 more. A cap of 40 would toss what's left of skill diversity right out the window, and that gets a big  from me.

The ability to reallocate skill points and perks would be interesting, however tinkering with my 'tutorial completed' permanent save has shown that this would be way too easy to abuse at high levels given just how many perks and points could be shuffled around. It would also obliterate the whole RPG concept of 'this is what you chose to be, now live with it', which is a bad idea IMO.
