How to create a simple Texture Mod?

Hallo Everybody,

i′m completely new to Bethesdas CK so please don′t be too rough to me :smile:
The Tutorials (wich can be found in this Forum) are really great and helped me a lot, but i don′t want to create a new dungeon or other "big" things before i′m familiar with the basics of the ck.

At first i decided to make a very small mod, a simple texture improvement mod, but since hours of trying i′m unable to find out where to change/edit these textures without changing every single object.
E.g. i want to change the dirt in whiterun, the texture for the dirt in Whiterun is "FieldGrass01 -Form ID 000135BE" but if i click "edit" you can only change the "Art File" wich is a .nif File (mesh i think).

If i go to "Miscellaneous->Texture Set->" and search for "Fieldgrass" the File "LandscapeWRFieldGrass01" and two other will appear. The file "LandscapeWRFieldGrass01" is the file that is linked to
FieldGrass01 texture, so this is the dirt Texture in Whiterun. If i alter the texture file to another the texture in Whiterun changes,yes, but i get similar error msgs like "TEXTURES: Could not queue texture 0xbc62449e" and
the new texutre will only appear on some places. Thats weird, because i change the whole texture, didn′t i?

Is there someone who can help me with doing "A simple retuxture" ? I hope it is that simple!
