HOW did I lose Wabbajack?!

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 2:55 pm

I did not store it and I did not give it to my follower.

If I go back and load different saves just to look at my inventory, am I going to screw anything up? And how would I prevent it from happening again??

(where's that crying like a baby icon when I need it)

No, you can go back to a previous save anytime you want. It won't mess anything up. When you're done just go back and reload your most current game save.

Anyway, I'm guessing you must've put your Wabbajack in a storage unit on accident. Possibly while you were unloading some of your other items. I do that sometimes. To help prevent issues like this and since I collect just about everything in the game, I use a different storage container for each type of item. I have a seperate unit for clothing items, one for all weapons, one for jewlery, one for books, potions, etc. Most houses have plenty of containers making it possible to use one for each type of item.

I'd recommend checking in any of the containers you've stored things in if you haven't done that already. Hopefully you didn't put it in one that respawns or have dropped it on accident. If so, it's long gone.

I've been selling stuff but not storing stuff until just now. I was looking to store stuff and check my old stored inventory when I noticed it was gone... I always took it for granted but I couldn't have sold it accidently!!

Talk about a show stopper... :(

Hmm. Well items don't just disappear from your inventory so you must've dropped it or accidentally sold it. I realize you say that selling it is a small possibility but just like accidentally dropping items I've accidentally sold plenty too. You had a good idea on loading up some previous saves and checking your inventory to see if it's in there. Give that a try and tell us what you come up with. One of the smartest things you can do in this game is save as often as possible.

Will do. Tomorrow. I'm gonna hate going through the several levels I've been through again.

Woe is me...

I had an Amulet of Talos disappear when I had to give up my gear for the Cidhna Mine quest. When I got my gear back it was gone, but like 2 RL days later it was back in my personal inventory.

I also had something else disappear from my inventory (can't remember what it was now), but I chalked that up to accidentally selling it. :(

Hopefully after going through a few saves and finding one where you still had the Wabbajack in your possesion you can pinpoint what exactly you did with it. Maybe you can even find it without having to re-play some of the game.

I sure hope so. I've been really spastic with my quest lines lately... will let you know. I'm sure all 2 of you will be waiting with baited breath.

Dude! Totally happened to me as well, I thought I was going crazy and imagining it. I've had a few necklaces vanish completely, then reappear in my inventory. So I had to make another enchanted one, it was gone. Then poof, it's back. I suspected it was due to the Talos amulet being a quest item; the first time I equipped a talos amulet, my enchanted one disappeared.
I'm almost afraid to admit this because I might really be crazy now, but I swear I've had a couple enchantments get switched around. One day I realized my gloves didn't have a lockpicking boost anymore; I knew it didn't make sense because I'd been opening difficult locks already for a long time... then suddenly bam, started breaking lockpicks, I was like okay what's going on here.
Had to make more enchanted gloves.

Well, I hate to see someone who's not an ass (you're not an ass, are you?) lose something unique and cool. ...especially something like the Wabbajack for 3 reasons:
1) It's unique.
2) It's a reward from one of the coolest/funniest quests in the game.
3) It's a good tool to reset your follower's levels if you 'discovered' them too soon.

Right, right. The only things I've lost have been ones I made.
If artifacts start vanishing, there's a real problem.

I escaped one of my hardest enemies ever with Wabbajack. Exhausted all resources and then tried Wabbajack... turned him into a bunny rabbit with the first shot. Saweeet.

I think this happened to the Shrouded Hood I got when I joined the DB. I could've sworn the bonus was originally Sneak, but when I noticed later it was Bow Damage (I could've been confusing it with Astrid's from my 1st character, but I don't think so - I tend to notice my enchants/bonuses). :o Also, from the DB questline I could've sworn that the Nightweaver's Band had an Illusion bonus, but when I checked it later at one point it had a Destruction bonus.

There can be some lag withing menus, such as when you are trading with a vendor, and you can unwittingly sell something you didn't mean to.
Draugrs can disarm you with shouts if you are below level 30. I have had this happen with followers especially, and had to traipse back through dungeons looking for the cool weapons I'd given them.
If you don't own a container, then there is the possibility it's not safe and will reset - eliminating anything you've put in it.

Is it possible that you had it equipped and were then disarmed by a Draugr Deathlord or something? I've lost a few weopons (including my favourite mace) due to being disarmed. Sometimes they force shout too and blow stuff all over the room and then I never find it again

Once you are over level 30 you will be immune to the disarm shout.

Sometimes, disarmed weapons will glitch and fall right out of the game world. Royal PITA.

i've had the same happening to me, only with a part of the Gauldur amulet. I obviously got in quite a panic, since I'd heard it made for a good quest. I was so relieved when I suddenly noticed it had reappeared after a some time. But I've read it's a bug related to the Cidhna Mine quest, causing quest items to disappear temporarily ...

I've never been 'disarmed' that I know of. If it comes from a shout then no.

Gonna load 'er up and find it and see if I can figure out what happened. You all can go ahead and bet on User error - I won't be offended.

I'll never rule out a bug. Wabbajack is a pretty unique name so it's not like you meant to sell a Vagga Rack.

Oh crap.

Remember the tough enemy I mentioned that I turned into a bunny rabbit? That was at the end of Sjorlov*** 's Sinkhole. At the beginning of this cave I have Wabbajack. I load the last save of this cave and there I am, in the same spot where I turned my enemy into a rabbit (which scampered away), but instead there's the dead enemy on the ground with a NICE frost axe and some gold, AND MY RIGHT HAND IS EMPTY..... balled up into a tiny girly fist.

Wabbajack disappeared as soon as I used it and I never noticed. Now I don't know what to do. I searched the spot I was standing... What the hell???!

Try scouring the area with the crosshairs and hope you get the option "Pick up Wabbajack?"? Maybe it clipped through the floor texture?

I went and re-played it, using different weapons. Have Wabbajack now.

Like I said, I was all spastic with my quests after that, entering caves and getting disracted from my main course (Labaryntian and/or Sanguine Rose)... so now I can get back on track and forget about Red Eagle's magic sword and various Whiterun dramas...

But it's disturbing that I lost Wabbajack at that point................. will keep an eye on that wiley stick from now on.
