ID, How did you do this?

Now playing my second run in campaign on Nightmare difficulty.

This time I'm paying more attention to details, secrets and sewers... playing more mini games and racings.

Rage is such a beauty!

Stunning visuals with rock solid 60 frames! plus great sounds, perfect feels-right controls! (FPS + CAR)

How did you do this?

It's amazing.

My PC setup is just plain medium range.( AMD Phenom x4 , 4GB DDR3 RAM, single GTX460 1GB )

I can find some games with good graphics out there but I can't run them 60 fps locked with *This* visual quality.
(Good game graphics with *insane hardware requirements*.... could be done by anyone. usually by irresponsible developers but Rage is different.)

1920x1080, 4xAA, Texture cache High, AF High, GPU transcode On, +g_fov 95 ---------> Solid 60 FPS! with great arts and visuals!

Even in the most heated actions, yellow fraps number '60' on the left top corner of rage screen is a constant!

How did you do this?

I respect you id, I admire you id.

This is a real technology.

I just love Rage!

Totally agree with above post! i haven't had a hardware upgrade in almost 2 years and i usually play http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/index.html or Fallout 3 or Oblivion, but for the past few days i have been having a blast with RAGE. I can't say anything bad about it. The first time i fired it up i got a black screen, 10 minutes online and i had new drivers and it played good, another 10 minutes reading about config files and tweaking my DNA config file, and the game is beautiful! An id game where you have an inventory! And the NPCs are the best i have ever seen! i'm used to Fallout where they all use the same mesh or DF where they are represented by a single tile... And i thought the gun play in FO3 got intense with FWE and MMM... Playing RAGE makes me want to play more fps games... Doom seems like it was so long ago, i'll have to try doom 3 after RAGE, before i go back to the Capital Wasteland. Also the music has been superb, when it kicks in. Reminds me of Trigun a little...

If someone had a gun to my head i could nitpick about the mouse acceleration in the menus being wild, or that the sky is static, but this game is so beautiful! and solid 60 fps, unlike the Bethesda behemoths that stress my CPU more than my GPU. I play Fallout for the story and to collect things and to role play and mod, but i'm playing RAGE for the bang bang! and i'm loving it and super glad i bought it. Every PC game has lots of people complaining at the forums, and it usually sounds like they should game on a console.

Steam is a bit of a hassle for me, but only because i don't have the internet at home. It is a hassle to take my tower to a friends house, and when i saw the steam disclaimer on the back of the box i gave the game back to the girl at gamestop. But i walked home and watched the HD trailer and videos i had downloaded the day before, and i was back in the store and calling anyone i knew to see if they would come to the city and pick me and my tower up.

Thank you for this great game, id software! i'm looking forward to future titles from you, and hope its not another 5+ years! And i'll have to pre-order all your pc games from now on. RAGE is the best fps so far ,and its making me more of a fan of the genre. :foodndrink:

Peace and Love!

Its the future baby. Id is the first to figure out how to really put all those extra cpu cores and simplified gpu cores to use full time. Within the next ten years we should see all computers being redesigned just to better leverage this kind of power and instead of people asking what kind of cpu or gpu it has they'll want to know how much bandwidth it has.

I totaly agree with you guys ! I'm a big fan of id games, and love them all from Doom 3 to last Wolfenstein, but Rage is in my opinion the more complete and enjoyable of all.

As I've read somewhere in the game, id is an "old race of developers", now extinguished... They have taken all the time they needed to produce a perfect game, with a new revolutionary technology (beautiful and perfectly scalable), and last but not least, the typical immersive ambience of all their games (Rage reminds me of a mix between Doom and Mad Max movie...)

Keep up the good work id !
