Hey guys, how well does the game run on PC? Worse than you expected? Better? I'm hoping I can run it 60fps+. Is it optimized well?

PC Gamer says if you can run Oblivion at 60-80 fps you should easily pull off 30-50 on ultra for Skyrim. The game is bottlenecked by consoles, so modern PCs shouldn't have many issues.

Skyrim runs tons better than Oblivion. No microstuttering or anything.

i5 2500K 3.3Ghz, OC to 4.5Ghz
GTX 570 1280MB OC
DDR3-1600Mhz RAM, 8GB
Win 7 HP 64-bit

Running Ultra at 1920x1080, 2x AA, 8xAF, everything else default. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1255692-skyrim-pc-ini-and-console-tweaks/ to have 95 degree FOV, shadows on trees, shadows on land, no depth of field.

I get 50-60 fps running around the countryside. If I turn off Vsync, I get 115+ fps.

Oh nice, sounds like I won't have any trouble at all running it.

I destroy Oblivion. So, I guess I'm set.

You shouldn;t have any problems -- I'm running a 5770 and the game feels very smooth (fraps shows it going from 40-60 FPS) with most of the settings high-ultra high and it has a much smoother feel than OB - Doesn't seem to have that stuttering effect that OB had at times so Much improved gameplay and the scenery is beautiful.

Ive got a Phenom x4 OC'd to 3.3GHz with 8gb ram and a GTX 560TI I can run everything maxed looks great
I used to be able to run near max settings on my old 8800GTS 640meg as well
So even with some older gear you should get some decent performance so long as you keep your drivers updated and whatnot.

over clock the cpu. is that the 970? or the core unlocked 560ish? get it to 4 ghz!
get more ram. 8 gigs is like $30-$40.
gfx card...is ok. dont think your getting ultra. 1 gig on board?

The 5870 was very high end 2 generations ago. To this day its still a pretty powerful card. It should easily handle ultra.
Overclocking the processor helps, especially on a game limited by the CPU.
4GB is fine, but RAM is cheap. More than 4GB wont help that much with the game's performance....unless you have a ton open. But 4GB should be good enough to start.
