For anyone who wants to play FNV without the game freezing up every half an hour: Simply DON'T install any update data at all! I shelved the game for two months or so because it practically became unplayable after update 1.04 due to all the freezing. To avoid this, in the ps xmb screen choose game data, not the save data and delete it. Reinstall the game and choose cancel if the game asks you to update the game. You can continue your game now as it was before any update data came out, which is actually way better than with the updates. Some questfixes will be undone and you won't be able to finish them, but hey, the game will actually be PLAYABLE again.. which is way better than the broken state Bethesda left it in up untill now. Glad i found out you can undo the updates, just wanted to share. Yesterday continued playing for four hours without a single freeze. HURRAY!

BTW, i disabled all the autosave features too, just save manually at a regular basis. Got the feeling this keeps the game from freezing some additional times too.

You know whats funny? The first update I did to NV, I immediately noticed radscorpions falling through the floor of the wasteland, after I've killed them. Something that didn't happen before. I'm gonna try that out, my friend...

I froze in the first few hours of playing the game before any updates were released, so no, this does not help.

Everyone experiences different issues, so not installing the latest update may or may not work. It's...random.

Personally, I've experienced freezing issues since day 1, October 19, 2010. None of the patches fixed it, and none will.

I'm not claiming the game won't freeze anymore, but it's definitly less. If the game occasionally freezes it is acceptable to me, F3 did it too sometimes you know, but the amount of freezes i experienced especially after installing patch 1.04 is rediculous.

I've been playing with these settings for ten hours now and had one freeze, which occured directly after saving manually. With patch 1.04 installed it froze four times within half an hour. I rest my case.

Again, it worked for you, and could possibly work for others, but at the same time there are people playing on the PS3 with the latest patch that don't experience any issues at all. Then there's the ones who've had the game since day one, and it's been nothing but freezes and crashes, with no more or no less before/after patch.

My point is that it's different for everyone. there unfortunately isn't a single guaranteed solution out there.

The thing is the bugs are so random and unpredictable, it's hard to pin down the actual source. I have experienced freezing since day one, like Crowley, but I have noticed a slight improvement since the bug, the operative word being slight. I just attempted to download dead money, and although it completely did not work and I have yet to receive the mesage "Dead Money Added" on the top left corner, since downloading it I have noticed less freezing :shrug:
