How to get remove MotorRunner's helmet from inventory? : Fallout: New Vegas

I can't seem to remove it from my inventory i've completed the quest givin by colonel hsu and whenever i speak to Ranger Anders he talks to me like he is still in valt 3 even though he is at mcarren air force base.

I can't seem to remove it from my inventory i've completed the quest givin by colonel hsu and whenever i speak to Ranger Anders he talks to me like he is still in valt 3 even though he is at mcarren air force base.

I can not either.I did do the quest and supposedly i gave it to the colonel.I can not drop it because ti says it's a quest item.
