How hardcoe is hardcoe mode exactly?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:03 pm

Just curious but going off the wiki article that mentions some of the features of hardcoe mode no mention is made of the damage that weapons have on enemies. Does anyone know for certain weather weapons inflict dramatically more damage or enemies have dramatically less health than in the regular difficulty modes? The need to hydrate, eat and rest is great and everything but the whole "immersion" appeal of the hardcoe mode is redundant imo if enemies still take full clips to lose a toenail, especially human enemies such as raiders etc. [snip]

Damage inflicted and damage received are effected by the level of difficulty you put on the game, not hardcoe mode. hardcoe mode simply adds to the game. you can play Very Easy hardcoe mode where ammo has weight but each enemy is about as strong as a Care bear all the way to Very Hard hardcoe mode where the only weapon you will have is a Care bear (not really, but hopefully you get the anology).

I hope not.
I wanna play hardcoe for it's stimpack healing over time, dehydration and eating disorder but I don't want to be forced to play with realistic damage.

hardcoe mode makes New Vegas a better Survival RPG, not a better shooter. This is a good thing.

hardcoe Mode adds:

  • Ammo weight instead of weighless ammo
  • Stimpack healing over time instead of instant stim healing and limb repair through doctors or doctor's bags + skill check
  • The need to eat, drink and sleep regularly or suffer negative status effects and if you go without a combo of the 3 long enough, even death

You have the option to turn it on in the beginning and you can turn it of anywhere in the middle if it proves too challenging, but you lose the chance to win the hardcoe achievement/trophy if you do so and you cannot switch it back on.

You can also change the difficulty slider any time so if you want a challenge go hardcoe mode and choose the very hard difficulty.

Personally I'm going with hardcoe/normal and I reserve the right to slide the bar towards very easy in the beginning if supplies prove to be too scarce and towards very hard towards then end when I've built up a personal mini arsenal and supply store...

It's not hardcoe, but it's not Casual. It's obviously not Art, but it could be Gritty.

I wonder if HC mode has something we don't know yet.

Hmm some modding may be in order.

I didn't play F3 on PC due to having playing the crap out of it on 360 (which in retrospect I cannot see the logic in purchasing over the PC version) and saw no need, were there many hardcoe-esque mods around? How hardcoe exactly did they get? My dream would be 80% less ammo scattered around the wasteland and one shot kill with every weapon minus the bb. Was anything like that ever released? If so I assume something of the sort will be done for NV.

Whatever the damge rate is I hope it is fairly realistic. Not the typical hard mode in games where you get shot 1-3 times and are dead but the enemies take 10-15.

I don't think it'll be as hardcoe as STALKER but it could be close.

Well I was making a very bad joke at the "eating" part of HC mode.

I think it just means that the robot six scenes depict full penetration.

I could be wrong, though.

I don't think that my kind of foreplay is allowed to be described on these forums. :whistling:

There are plenty of mods like those. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2761 comes to mind.

Is there a source for the "hardcoe Mode adds to your selected difficulty"?
I'll be very happy if I can just play "Easy hardcoe Mode". I'm not great at Fallout 3 on easy difficulties (for comparison) but the additions of the hardcoe mode to it still sound cool.
