For the last couple of days My game has been CTDing whenever I try to fast travel or enter a door.
then I hear that there's an update, but how do I install this update?
I don't know if my game updated itself - but usually with other games it needs you to press a button to update - so I don't know If I have the update or not. and don't know if my crashing would be fixed by the patch or is due to the patch?
I've only had the game a week - and so I am pretty annoyed that I can't play it at the moment.

If you need my dixag stuff (or whatever it is) I can get that for you.
But I guess my main question is, how do I know this new patch is installed?

It can be found at the bottom left of your menu screen.

Start the game. Load a save. Hit esc in game and look at the lower left corner of the popup to see the game version.

Or right click properties on TESV.exe, and check the version number there.

Check the properties of the TESV.exe file located in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim (default location on XP).

Wow, no wonder my 4GB patch doesn't work anymore.

So, Skyrim is gtg @ 4gb now thanks to the latest patch?

Thanks everyone for the replies, looks like my game is up to date, and the CTD's only seem to be happening in and around Riften - so not as drastic as I thought.
hopefully I'm not the only one having this problem and it can be sorted.
