How to link a worldspace to Tamriel?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 6:23 am

How do I do to set up a direct connection among my worldspace and the Tamriel one? I woudl actually like to link it throught a merchant traveller like the Carriages merchants ... so that you pay and he brings you there but , I woudl like also to add a sort of randomness in the location of arrival is this possible? also to set up the lenght of the trip?

Don't the carts just use a "MoveTo" with a "Fade to black" modifier at the start?

Think of it like a trainstation with a sleeper car. The player gets on board and sleeps all the way there (which is essentially how the carts work, though interestingly in "DialogCarriageSystem" there's a lot of things I've never seen, like "do you want to stop somewhere on the way" and bandits blocking the road and so on. It looks like originally they were actually going to have the carriages go down the roads like they do in the intro, but gave up on that in favor of a "Poof! You're There!" effect.

It's pretty simple to do...just make a quest called "BoatRideSystem" with a dialog for each NPC in a "FerryManFaction" - you could just copy the Cart system, edit the dialog appropriately, and set your new destinations up.

To randomize the destination, have multiple docking spots in each area, and only enable one at a time, at random.

To do stuff like that, you'll want to watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rter3FIzvZsand instead of having the Use Weapon bit, use the AI to tell the player to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qfcet5hf5bson a piece of invisible furniture on your boat.
