How long does it take for giants to respawn?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 6:29 pm

I'm trying to farm giant toes for alchemy, but I seem to have wiped out all the giant camps. How long does it take for them to respawn? And why do giants only have 1 toe each?

Little known Alchemy fact: only the Giant's Left Big Toe has magickal properties. :)

And: A month to respawn, IIRC.

A month? Damn that is a lot of resting. I wonder if there is a mod that allows you to sleep for more than 24 hours at a time?

Benjamin Septim... the unsung third Emperor after Uriel? Never heard of him? He discovered the Lightning Bolt spell by flying a kite. Don't you read? :P

There's no Kites in Tamriel either. I think you're making that up.

while you can't wait for more than 24 hours i think if you go to fast travel to places at the far corners it takes up more than 24 but gives you a loading screen isntead of a wait bar.
also i think sleeping is a "quicker" than either fast or waiting as watiing loads a "frame" per hour but sleeping is jsut nothingness

Respawning will be a challenge to me... I did set my timescale to 1. Now it's realtime. A night hunter needs that. Else I'll never have time enough for my hunt.

Fast traveling, actually, takes a lot more time than going to the location by yourself. Something you do in about 6 game-hours takes something like 12~18 hours.

My advice to you is: Buy from shopkeepers! They respawn the toes once everyday. And if you're in lvl 20+ it's pretty easy to find money. Real easy.

10 days.

A month is for cleared dungeons only.

Here is the complete breakdown for respawning:

It is 2 days for vendors to respawn their inventory.
It is 10 days for cells to reset out in the world/interior/exterior
It is 30 days for cleared dungeons to reset.

That's useful information. Thanks for that.

To clarify, is that 30 days of uninterrupted time? That is, if you reenter a dungeon before the 30 days is up, will it then be an additional 30 days from that point?

It's from the time you first cleared the dungoen, entering it before this time does not effect the time limit.

Nah. Respawning doesn't work that way. It will "halt" while you're in there, but when you leave, the timer will resume where it left off. Heh you can go in on day 29 with 5 minutes left and sit in there for 10, leave and return and it'll be reset.

Edit: Ninja'd ;p

Thanks, again. I was getting paranoid that continuing to check the awesome ebony mine was screwing me. A watched dungeon never respawns! (although in this case i guess it actually does)

Do you know the reset time for NPC Houses, Castles, Farm Crops, Forest Flowers, & Mines?
And what is "cells"? Prison Cells?

Son of a ...horker. No wonder those ebony veins didn't reset when I waited right next to them for three months. -_-. At least I got a lot of reading done while I was waiting.

A "cell" is a location that has to load, like a dungeon, mine, or house. It's like an instance in WoW. So NPC houses and castles would fall under that category and reset after 30 days.

Farm crops, flowers, etc, are all outdoors, and so they would respawn every 10 days.

I'm betting that although the reset timer is "paused" while you are inside a dungeon (cell), you can probably be standing next to anything outside and have it reset after ten days.

That's a guess, since I wasn't exactly clear on the way dungeons respawned.
