How long is main quest?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 7:56 pm

On my first playthrough I just wanted to go speeding through the main quests and was wondering how much more hours I would get. And if I do this then go do the civil war stuff, will the civil war stuff be extremely easy?

It depends on how you do it.....there's a lot of traveling...so it took me about 6 hours (I think) RPing. When I sped through it with my 2nd character it took me 2 hours.

The length of MQ depends on how you play (fast travel, etc). I suggest you play the game and find out, since no one can tell you how long it will take you.

I have not done it yet.
Six hours, really?
That is pathetic.
This games needs longer guest lines.

I dunno, I'm maybe 80 hours in and haven't really touched the MQ past the first dragon. I've fought a bunch of dragons as I've explored but haven't done anything on the MQ or the Civil war stuff.

Not really considering there's multiple other quests to do. The MQ is barely the point of the game. Though the Guild Quests (at least The Companions and Winterhold) definitely need to be beefed up.

I agree its not the main point.
But it should be lengthy and epic.
I think the main and all the faction quest need more added to them.
I can play this game for well over a thousand hours alone.
That does not mean they should severely cut down the main and faction quest length.
Its just atrocious, and there is no cause for the diminishing of quest lines and fun features that this series used to have.

There are some interesting quest lines but yes most of them are too short and a lot of them end fairly anti-climatically and don't seem to have any real noticeable impact on the world around you. Main Quest, Guild Quests, Civil War Quest are good but they're not really outstanding due to the reasons I listed. It's not just the main quest that falls short; a lot of quest lines suffer from this. Not to mention a lot of the major quests lines are very unbalanced and often too easy.

The Civil War questline was good but too short, plus the aftermath was handled poorly. The Companion questline was also good but ended too abruptly. The College's questline promoted me to arch-mage so fast I'm still wondering what happened. I can't really comment on the other factions. The MQ......well, it started off great and then tanked. It seems Bethesda was too busy shoveling in elements for the "wow factor" to write a decent plot. I rank it up there with DA2's MQ.
