How long until the heathen Skyrim section is on par with the

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 8:49 pm

Every other forum here on BGSF is mostly helpful, respectful, and has well thought out posts, but the Skyrim section is full of people who've yet to understand that BGSF isn't your average video game forum, we actually respect and help each other here. How long do you think it'll be until the Skyrim section is actually decent?

Till the new users who curse you out for not knowing something get bored of this forum or get banned. That's usually how these things go.

Fortunately for us children don't have very long attention spans. :P

It will be awhile, You have to figure with the DLC that section won't be completely safe for another year or so. If your willing to risk you humanity you can probably go there in a month or so. I put up with it but some people just make me want to bash my skull against a brick wall. :banghead:

The weak will get weeded out. Those who find that other forum sections don't share their attitude will eventually leave. It seems every time a new game is released and a new section starts up the rabble always get boiled down to about 30-50 dedicated fans who regularly post, and that's part of the reason I like this forum so much :)

What's worse is when people bring this up in the Skyrim section people will say stuff like "Welome to the Beth forums" we really aren't all like that.

Yep, I joined when the hype for NV was at it's peak and the forum was flooded. Sadly it's sort of died out to a small handful of users that are, as you said, dedicated to lore and discussion. I used to be active, but I just don't care to talk about the same copy paste topics there anymore. Usually I'll post to make a smarmy retort or help a newbie out, but in general I sort of packed my bags and moved over here to CD.

@ Miller- I'd shoot myself trying to read that forum, that place is like a roulette wheel in Vegas, the topics just constantly spin on and off the first page.

@Galuf- No idea what you're referring to. :spotted owl:

Edit @ Fallout- I agree. I hate when someone hates someone who says a jerk response than says 'HA! THIS IS HOW THIS FORUM IS NOOB! GET USED TO IT!' This isnt some CoD frat party broseph forum, we're (generally) rather respectful and well mannered.

I love the game. Reading alot of the posts gets me a bit aggrivated, but then I say to myself...wtf cares? I'm loving every minute I play...just wish I had more free time in the day is my only gripe.

I've been posting in the Skyrim sections regularly since the game came out, and honestly it's not nearly as bad as it could be. For every annoying jerk there's usually at least one person willing to at least try to have a decent conversation. I don't think it'll take too long for the more irritating people to clear out or get banned.

I'm not as active as I used to be, I joined a while back for the Oblivion and Morrowind discussions and I remember thinking the CD section looked boring. Then one day, about a year ago, I decided to take a visit to this corner of the forum and I haven't looked back. It's almost as if the Community Discussion is the gentleman's/ladies club of the forums....or the retirement home where old members go to make their last few posts :P either way, it's my favorite of the sections.

I've yet to see a single flame war on this forum.

I've seen a couple of bad ones a few years back. I've even seen someone start a thread about dropping out of school to play games at home for the rest of his life. I think he was trying to bait trolls.

I don't need this forum for any lore, discussion of TES or even mods (I have the NEXUS for that). I come back purely for the kind heartened people here. The ones that stay, or at least come back from time to time are great people to discuss any matter with including personal ones. Here we are comfortable enough to share our pains, pleasures and compassion with each other.

This is the best gaming community Ive ever been apart of, and I was once on the train for making an elder scrolls MMORPG, but that would just seriously screw it up worse. Online gaming I think, more and more, is trash. It's the people though, not the games.

Agreed, I got rid of my Xbox live gold membership a few months ago because I just couldn't stand the competitive online experience anymore. It's the attitude of most of the players that repulses me, but I suppose it isn't for everyone.

I learned early how brutal the online communities can be with SOCOM in the early 2000's. I just wish there were mentors around that would teach us noobs how to play Call of Duty like in the most recent TV advertisemant for the game. Sadly there's not.

Welcome home my friend.

Online should be used to play people you know in person when getting together isn't possible. That's it.

People act like absolute trash when they think they are anonymous.

Until the kiddies internet runs out or gets cut off and they all forget about this place, maybe once they become Curates they might develop some respect ?

I would say more like when the hormones and nerdraging subside -- this is why I avoided the Oblivion forums like the plague around release time..

It's quite bad there, you always get someone who says "been playing since Daggerfall..." then proceeds to flame the game as if the opening line gives their opinion an authority.
