How to lower load times ?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 12:06 pm

i had the 360 version and i turned off the auto saves and that improved the load times greatly, now i got this for PC, using decent rig with EVGA GTX 460 SE, i am able to run on high settings, only drawback is the load times, they are long, i have about 7 mods installed, and the settings on my GPU are the ones i got from Nvidia website, anything i can do to lower the load times from the ini or pref files ? any mods that might help ? if anyone here is running on GTX 460 please share your settings, i would really appreciate.

The GPU shouldn't have much of anything to do with loading times. What would help with loading is RAM and a good CPU.

i got 6gb ram, intel core i3 530 @ 2.93ghz, i've been playing Witcher 2, ME3 without any problems on high settings. even Skyrim is lag free with all the added texture mods i get smooth 40 FPS, its just the loading times i cant find an answer for.

Putting Skyrim on my SSD drive greatly decreased load times for me.

Two main methods:

1) https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129
2) symlinks

Are you running a frame rate limiter?

How long are your load times? How much of your CPU and RAM are you using without the game running? Have you defragmented your hard drive lately?

Wait... do you even know what an SSD is?
I don't think so, going by his latest post.

An SSD (Solid-State Drive) is a storage device -- a "hard drive" that loads and writes faster than hard drives, but are more expensive. Your computer doesn't come with an SSD unless you bought one.

Reducing the size of textures will also decrease loading times. Try removing any HD texture mods.
